Help me for my first car

thanks kevin lee

have you ever heard any issues from vw car before.
some people said that vw cars have wiring prob.

i need some suggestion from you guys
1)Suzuki swift sport / suzuki swift
2)Honda civic es 2.0
3)Toyota vios
i'm not really pro about car.http://www.zerotohundred.com/newforums/images/smilies/gtnsmilies/stupid.gif
My budget is around 75k - 110k

I'd go for this, K20, chassis with a similar design to the integra. Its very fun and nimble to drive :driver:

im unaware about such problem, even so vw has 5 years warranty on its new cars, purchased after 2009, and it has road side assist now, so u have a peace of mind. at least a golf tsi is perhaps not as highly desirable in the theft market, should u buy one. but in case ur car is a lemon, get the warranty claimed till it expires, then sell or trade in for something else, thats how u get to manipulate the warranty to ur side. one of my friends bought a bmw 520d on lease, knowing how bad diesels are in malaysia and how he intends to sell it when warranty finishes, haha

little white wagon

yeah i think honda es 2.0 is a fun car and easy to modified.
but its and old car.
i wish honda reproduce that model.

kevin lee

i wish i could do that but money is a main problem for me.
so, i'll buy one car and use it wisely for long period.

es 2.0 has lots of problems its not the most reliable of the bunch, kcng used to own one and sold at a loss of 20k, i think it was wiring harness problems, but then again, car problems are touch wood, sometimes u have a new car, yet it dissapoints u, sadly

thanks for your info.
for now i think golf is the best car compare to others.
buy new car is less risk compare to 2nd aite?

thre is another to consider, peugeot 308 turbo, but im not sure how many years naza warranty is, but its reliable because it uses mini's 1.6 prince engine, co-developed with bmw

the 308turbo comes with 3 years or 100,000km warranty. it is a pretty good combination. performance and handling it has. it is not the top of the heap though but it is not too bad. plus, it has a pretty spacious cabin and good interior quality. so, it would make a pretty decent overall drive.

Its easy to mod, especially with the K20. If im not mistaken its using the cable throttle body compared to the newer K20's that have the drive by wire.

Haha but reliability, my dad has one so maybe thats why im biased. But his is the older 1.7 model. No probs from 2004, just that the paint isnt as shiny as it used to be. I vote you ask around on the Team ES forums if theres any problems with that batch...

The only downside I can think of is that its uncomfortable stock suspensionwise. After my dad changed his shocks to TiTan ones + Ultra racing ARB's they handle super well

1.7 has no problem, it was the 2.0 es that had problem, forumer kcng could give an insight, maybe u can pm him. he sold the car for someone who wanted it cheap , so he could put an integra type r half cut, lol

well according to him, he claimed many tiems warranty with honda malaysia, but still persisting problem, led him sold the car for lost, market value 90k, sold for 70k.

did u noticed there was more altis than civic es on the road back then? haha

Yeah I did, the ES was never popular... first civic to jump back to mcphersons after so long, and the 1.7 is really bumpy in the rear.

But I still preffer the ES over an altis due to the response of its engine and handling haha :driver:

its rarely to see peugeot on the road.
kinda afraid to buy that car.
but i'll test drive this week.

so what do you think golf or peugeot for daily use and ofc about fuel consumption obviously road user's dilemma about price of fuel this days

Peugeot 308 turbo is a very good choice, i also love the 308 turbo with 155hp, ESP (same with mercedes benz), and many other 'continental car' accesories but if you like a sporty ride for the price of 100k then you can buy Swift sport manual, you won't regret... it's a race/rally bred car...

if u get a golf tsi, definitely u will mod n guess what, its bloody expensive..
but golf mk5, no warranty and when sumthing wrong then confirm broke..
i would say if I were u,then golf mk5 it is..cheers

Suzuki swift
Good in fuel consumption
Average handling not so poor not so stable
Engine maintenance low caused swift used timing chain
Power for me average not so powerless and not so powerfull
Safety and security poor caused this is compact car

Vios
Good in fuel consumption
Average handling poor
Engine maintenance low caused DVVT used timing chain
Power for me average not so powerless and not so powerfull
Safety and security poor caused lighten body (Just add 20-50Kg it's exactly same light myvi 1.3 body)

Civic ES
Not so good in fuel consumption
Average handling best
Engine maintenance Average - Using timing belt
Power for me - power than vios and swift
Safety and security sedan car ofcoz the sedan car more safety than compact cars

p/s only sharing my experiences here... :)
