I saw this pickup truck on rides astro yesterday, it had 2 stainless steel chimney exhaust sticking out and runs on helicopter turbine. When the engine starts.. it sounds just like a helicopter! With flames coming out of the pipes coz more than 1000 celcius. The turbine supposedly can spin at 25,000 rpm. How much hp does it generate and is it even practical?

a helicopter turbine (or turboshaft as it called, coz the turbine drives a shaft for the power output) generates anywhere from 1000 - 3000 SHP. practical? no coz turbines are difficult to spool up and down ( it likes constant RPM). so not good if stuck in traffic. other vehicles (on the road) that uses turbines includes the M1A1 Abrahams Main Battle Tank.

woah.... 1000-3000hp? must be a hell of a ride! Must tabik to those crazy modders though.. first time I saw a car that sounds like a helicopter...heheh

wah... got flames coming out frm the exhaust? more than 1000c'?
hmmm, dangerous for our car....
if 1000c', what would our engine temp, watertemp, oil temp be?
errr, those modders r crazy...

saw that truck in Rides..The owners must be over 50 yrs old..wonder how they can sit that truck with engine temp over 1k 'c in front of him..masak la..

Watch Monster Garage... crazy fellas put helicopter engine into a Celica (aka the Fighter). All done in 7 days.

The project was nicknamed, Helica... :P

Project: Helica

Pics 1: The car... looks pretty stock to me! :P

Pics 2: Stripping the car - throw everything away! :(

engine temp not 1000 celcius that's the exhaust temp. The 2 exhausts are outside the truck facing the sky, looks like 2 chimneys.
