EVO 4 Engine Blown

my experience, the sound from the block... knocking, audible from inside car but if you hear it then it will be tooo late.....

Check the crank pulley for freeplay. You can pry it with a bar. There should be NO movement at all, but if there is, measure the amount of movement with a vernier caliper. Acceptable tolerance is 0.25mm.

The beginnings of a spun bearing sound a lot like stuck lifters, only that it resonates from lower in the bay. If you have a loud exhaust or play your music loud, this is easy to miss.

If you catch the knocking early, you may get away with just a new set of bearings and remachining your crankshaft. If you catch it later, you may still get away with a new crankshaft. If you don't catch it at all, you get to drop in another engine.
 
guess that's what happen to me..... lesson learnt.... never put your music too loud all the time... listen to the engine.. she's talking to you... learnt that long time ago with my GSR but took it for granted...
 
well.... i'll have to take note then.... now the odo is at 155k guess have to do total overhaul at 255 then...

How's ur care rite now, ok already ? Btw, did u able to get E4 for replacement and how much?
 
Still in workshop.... need to use the money for othr more urgent stuff like kids going to school.... Engine got already for 2.8K booked with RM500.00
 
Ic, sorry to hear about that. Is it only the engine (block+head) for 2.8K? Since u ahev and exp in E4, is there any other prob with ur machine? Coz i'm looking forward for E4.
 
It's only the engine (enjin kosong) no intake or exhaust manifold
You might wanna check the rear axcel (AYC) .... I heard it needs extra care... regular oil change....
