Following are some information on how to chip a evo 1 2 3 ecu.

You need to get the ecu out of the car and open up the casing.
Inside you will see this PCB... it already has a standard chip in it...

Now you will need the remove or desolder the standard chip so that you can put in the
IC or chip socket...This require solder skill and some patient... (solder iron, sucker, solder wick)

Once the standard chip is out, clean up the area and you are ready to install the socket.
The reason for the socket is so that you can test other performance chips or to use back the standard chip by just
simple plug and play.

Once you have soldered in the socket, you are ready to plug in the standard chip back or test a performance chip.
In the picture is a chip by ralliart for evo 1 2 or 3.

Once the chip has been inserted into the socket, you can install back the PCB into it's case and can go
for a test run.

If you need the copy of the ralliart chip, you can PM me...$$$.
Spec- Speed limitter OFF
Rev cut at 9K
Boost cut up-ed.
Ign timing adv
Fuel to support boost till 1.4Bar

Thanks for reading and good luck. Tq

Bro that IC socket isn't mean for automotive application.
You will have intermittence problem over period of time
I agree. Best if the chip can be soldered on.

Thank you for sharing ur experiences or bad enconters however

There are 2 types of socket.
Those sockets with round holes are the
onces easy to loose contact (IC pins are flat, so will not have good grip/mating in round hole)
The type I am using so far do not cause
trouble... None of the ecus chipped ever came back for "poor" contact issues..

Those sockets with round contact holes, yes I hv seen and repaired those contact problems,
even on ECU with hondata s300 boards.

Anyway below are some pictures and also 1 of the socket pin removed and inserted to an IC
to show the contact.. (when the terninal is in the plastic housing, the "spring" effect is even stronger.

Anyway if DIY, you can decide which way you want to do it... socket or non socket..

:burnout:

Thanks for willing to share... Bro, any idea if I rechip the GSR ecu with an eprom emulator base the socket booster, then i use the emutility/Tuner Pro RT of EVO ecus... Meaning to say, I alter EVO program into GSR ECU... I can see that the sensors/input/output of the ECU are the same as their Engine wiring are common... U think it will work..?

u can use evo to gsr mapping with no problem, only different mapping on fuelling/ignition/injectors/maf reading which u can manipulate to suit ur engine setup.. also other functions such increase rev cut/speed cut..etc etc

Yes... Will work.
So in other words, All i need to do is to get the bin of EVO ECU and have it install in the new chip, then I can start manipulating from there right..?

U have any experience on ECILINK or ORSTRICH..?
