Hi All

I just noticed today that there is part connected to my engine is oily and I'm suspecting this was the cause of my engine oil going down last few months...

I'm not so sure what you call that part and I've actually circled it the image - mind you this is not my car as I do not have a camera with me.

Can you tell me what part is that?

Thanks!!

That's your distributor. If there's oil there and underneath & no where else...its the distributor o ring. pull out the distributor & u will see it. See attachment.

exactly, the oil is only at the bottom of it and around the wires. Should i change the whole distributor or just changing the o rings would do?

just change o ring ok...check also other part like engine cover gasket upper...sometime oil leak from there...if u not sure,i advise u send ur car for wash up engine then start ur engine,u see where oil leak lo..

its the o ring that's old, hardened and letting oil pass through. Wanna be 100% sure? get your engine & bay washed/cleaned, then look for fresh leaks. I get cars coming to my garage sometimes with more oil around the bay than in the engine! Sometimes its obvious, especially on top, sometimes its hard to tell like at the bottom of the engine where u get the wind to nicely spread the oil EVERYWHERE...

Cheers!

check the distributor o-ring, and if you had open-ed your cam cover before, the rubber seal had to change every few times you open your cam cover. And when install back the cam cover and the rubber seal, you had to put some silicon gum at every 'turn' on the rubber seal, especially the curve around the distributor, where it normally like to leak around that area~
