Hi guys,

My toyota AE111 auto just KO!

After starting the car, engage in 'R', then it can't switch back to any other gears. The gear stick can still move, but it does register on the dashboard/car...so this means, the car can't move this moment...

Does anyone have a good idea what is going on? Is my gearbox still ok? If not, how much will it cost to repair?

Thanks!

hehe....thinking for BT conversion too, but if the problem can be rectified w/o much cost, i guess conversion will have to wait. Now economy not so good...have to save :P

...when it stuck at R then how u change to others gear?

Yup. Problem found.

It is the gear lever cable, as mentioned by nappx. It cost a bomb of RM600 at toyota service centre.

cheh...got halfcut cable lorr...ask bro tmcc...to find...pm me if you want to find that cable...you can get more cheap....pm me if interested...

I also face the same problem last time. You can D.I.Y yourself, not need spend RM600, just RM5 enought. only drill a small hole at the gear shifter gearcable join part. you repalce a rubber boost at the cable hole and then put a pin cross the hole, then problem settle. cheapest way and lasting for whole life time. hehehe.....DIY is good.....:_: see the picture for reference

so ylkien... what was the 600 bucks for... can u list the breakdown...???

mine happened before too.. it's the rubber ring at the latch that is broken which cause the gear shift to fail. It connects the gearbox cable and ur gear knob. I also DIY-ed it.. didn't cost me anything.. just cost me alot of time and no car to use haha...

HOw about camry? my Father's Cam auto gear when shift is not so target. Every body know how to do for camry? is it same as corolla?

:tongwink:
