Clutch Recommendations

i had the similar dilemma also last time between CTR clutch or exedy organic...i drive hard occasionally only and dont wish to develop xtra foot muscle via heavy pedal....so finally i choose CTR ones cause that time it's cheaper than exedy...and i'm happy with it so far...honestly i have never tried the exedy so i can't give comparison between the 2 ler...btw, u might need to also change the clutch bearing...

J101,
U mention the less leg cramping will be the organic or 3puck, is it the thick 3 puck? since mine was the thin 3 puck...my current gearbox is b16a, with lsd...using big vtec engine...pls recommend..

udeng,
how's the ctr? i mean if u compare with stock honda clutches? btw, correct me if im wrong, do we have to change bearing everytime we change clutch?

appreciate all the input bro

ctr clutch compare with stock b16a...it engages quicker, with a little bit of shrudder n a little bit harder than stock, but not as much as aftermarket ones....very leg friendly..

If you like the grip in the 3 puck thin or thick, you will not find the OEM CTR any good in terms of performance. And if I not wrong the racing cover used in all exedy race clutch whether it is round organic, 3 puck thin or 3 puck thick, they are all the same. So theorically, whichever exedy you use, you will still find that heavy pedal mainly due to the cover. It is just that the Exedy organic you may not find the juddering when you dump clutch compare to 3 puck type.

Anyone tried the ATS Super single?? Heard that it seems to be very light and it claims that it doesn't have the 'cheeee' sound like Ogura.

i never had the chance to try any from the ATS brand. but driving around in kl or subang with the OS Giken Super Single is not fun to be honest :p

udeng,
thank you for the good information shared, it will be interesting if we could meet up and experience both of our clutch. If u r ok with that, do PM me your number, i'll drop u a call.

Chris2000,
if the organic clutch still carries heavy pedal, then i believe i'll be opting the CTR for daily driving. Exedy do provide good "bites" but i foresee with the current traffic like mad, i need to opt for lighter clutch. are using the organic ones?

CTR standard is the same as B series 1.....

exedy organic ~ the round type will cost u around 700 and better than stock ....and not heavy as semi race/full race 3 puck exedy....for a performance type go for OS/Ogura/TODA/Exedy hyper single

avantasia,

thank u for sharing the info, u mentioned not as heavy as semi or full race, but i'm kinda confuse with chris2000 statement that all exedy is heavy due to the cover.
I'm currently using exedy and i fear that even changing to organic wouldn't be that much of different.

Pls recommend...thanks all

Actually Exedy has two type of cover. The ones normally used with the racing 3 puck and performance organic clutch are all the same racing cover supplied in the red box and Made in Japan. So pedal feel is the same due to the racing cover.

Unless you want to go for the street exedy which i think comes in blue colour box and if i not wrong they are made in Malaysia. These are softer and i think they are just OEM replacement and not performance items.

chris2000,

i'm currently using the red exedy, any means to make it softer? by changing the cover perhaps?

i guessed at the end of the day u cant get both world, soft pressing clutch with super grip.

j101,

i do agree with your statement, but actually from my previous post, i do not wish to get best in both worlds, but in between...
Cheers!!

(a) stock EG/EK/DC clutch

(b) exedy organic/3 puck

(c) exedy hyper single/os giken/ogura

so in between would be "b" :)

Can I ask one question? If I want something lighter/softer than B16B stock clutch, but performance is better than stock at least 30%. You guys have any suggestion?
