chris2000 said:I tried ATS close gear ratio + Spoon FD 4.6 something and even then cruising at 5000rpm only about 110km/h. So for street use i think mad man.. Fuel consumption is going to suffer as well as top speed.
LSD many types. Most common Japanese brands runs on metal clutch plate type and some british brand like Quaife are gear driven type. The latest innovation used by company like ATS runs on carbon clutch plate type.

OTH, since the close ratios are excellent for track racing..would it be more advisable to me to buy the close ratio 345 while keeping the 4.4FD instead of chaging either the whole gearbox to Type r or change the FD to 4.9...what do you think?...FYI, I have no idea how much a Close ratio 345 cost...hmmmm
zero4 said:yeap, for track, get 3,4,5 and keep ur 4.4 FD. new 3,4,5 will usually cost around 2.3k to 2.5k lohhh, used one less loh, less than 1.8k gua

If you go to Spoon website you will see complete gear kit (1-5) will cost over RM8,000 and 3-5 gear about RM6,000. So it always make me wonder how the hell the local companies can bring Kaaz or other Japanese brand gear kits at almost half price below RM3k.
The only gear kits that I found that is below RM3k is from Taiwan made, and these guys can make or copy whatever gear ratio you want whether it is Spoon, OS, ATS....

zero4 said:is simple, all goods pricing is match and determine according to the cost of living in that contigent or country or whatsoever. you cant compare other county pricing for goods, in this case, car parts, everywhere is different. so, you cant really compare japan pricing with malaysia, is two totally different market and environment. and btw, the kaaz ATS gearing i bought for 2.5k is originial, taiwan made ATS gearings are selling for less than 1.5k here fyi.
chris2000 said:Ya, I know many companies in Malaysia do market their product by lowering prices like 5-10% below the Japan/Australia/USA/etc to keep their product affordable and competitive. But for example in this case we talking about gear kits, it is atleast half the price of the retail in Japan. So, if you add in the shipping freight fee, custom clearing fee and all other miscellaneous charges, these gearkits are probably only 1/3 the retail price or less!! So thats why I'm just pretty amazed only. It just make me wonder how the hell they did it!! If it is a high volume products and local company order in the sets of hundreds or thousand, then I would assume they could have probably bargain super high quantity low prices. But these are like maybe a set or two a month item only.
The other thing is can anyone tell me or lead me to any websites that shows tha Kaaz make gear kits for other comapnies?? Just curios and for my own research only. Cause I always hear people telling me "Kaaz made but Spoon ratio" or "Kaaz made but ATS ratio" and so forth. Then when I check the Kaaz website to find more details of their gear kit, I found nothing on Honda but only Subarus... So I can not find any info at all on the KAAZ gear ratios for HONDA.. Or is there something that everyone know about KAAZ and that I can't find the web.
Thanks for all your guys help in clearing my confusion...
