Does anyone get a "squeaky" noise coming from the engine area when their clutch is not engaged? I tend to put my tranny in neutral when I'm stopped i.e traffic light, or anywhere else that's going to take a little time. I hate "riding" my clutch. Anyway, I noticed this squeaking noise whenever I pull up to a stop. It's not that obvious, but it's noticeable to me before. Recently it has gotten louder. I've browsed the net for info on this, and I couldn't find a definitive diagnose to the source of the problem. So based on what I've read, it's either:

1. Pilot bearing
2. Throw out bearing

Is this a common problem? Could anybody with similar issues or the knowledge shed some light on this please? Thanks.

if i was to come to an educated guess i would say you've got a worn throw out bearing. i replaced mine when changing to hks twins and strangely Exedy in jalan ipoh has it. Cost 135 odd dollars. good luck and while you've got the tranny check for wear.

I had the same problem fixed just 5 days ago. It was the throw out bearing in mine. Changed it, changed the clutch since it was out and got the pilot bearings checked since the tranny was out, no more noise now.:_:

Thanks guys. Do you reckon I should get it checked out now, or wait till I wear out the clutch and replace everything in one go? Also does it take someone who is familiar with the rotary to do this job?

In my case....my clutch was left with about 50% so I decided to change it anyway. I was more worried about the bearing causing more damage. Up to you in the end....dude.

on the fd there is an inspection plate you can remove to roughly gauge wear. its secured by 2 10mm bolts.check your workshop manual. good luck jaii

pretty small nuts to me....

how much roughly to get someone to take out the tranny and replace both the throw out bearing and the pilot bearing ?

labour would be about 300. let me know if you need the contact.

let's wait for my clutch to wear off or upgrade twinplates first. then at that time will most likely change all the freakin bearings...
