Check engine light on

ppl in zth i want to get some opinion from u all regarding some problem regarding check light.

1. may i know if radiator fan not functioning is it can cause check engine light on?
2. my meter for km/h also not functioning is it also can cause engine light on? (i already check the meter then i saw one of kapasitor in the meter pull out maybe need to change the meter all)
3. want to know ur bt engine temperature is it half hot in the meter or below that?

2. KM/h is different wiring source, it shouldn't have check engine light on too
3. normally will near to half...

ok. thanks. my check engine light on when around 10 km running. the temperature on half. is it when temperature is high the check engine light will on?

for ur info when i switch off the ignition and switch on back the check engine light will off. then after 10km running will be on back.

normally when the radiator fan will on? on half/quarter on the meter?

depend on your temperature switch/thermostat (don't know which one hehe) . u can always bypass the switch by disconnecting the socket to see whether your fan is functioning or not.
mine also got check engine light on isk...isk

did you check all the vacuum hose? normally is leaking...
or either perform diagnostic check.. it should appeal where is the problem from..

Please check your speedo cable, if it is broken, change it. For some toyota models, the speedo sensor will provide a 4 pulse per revolution signal to the ECU to indicate the car is moving and for fuel cut as well. The ECU gets signal from crank and cam/distributor as well, so might be "confused" when there's no signal from the speedo.

yep. some engine ecu will detect speed error if speedo not functioning, hence the CEL light up.
basic diagnose (if ur car support self diagnose with just shorting 2pin at diagnose harness) may give u which part/sensor error/malfunction.

IIRC, most 20V will CEL if O2 sensor is damaged. Pls check / replace O2 sensor. Also, there's no speedo cable for 20V and I think it will not CEL even if no speedo readout. You'll have free speedcut removed though!

what i know the check engine light will off after the engine is running. my car also like that but after around 5 to 10 km the CEL will be lighting. after i off the engine and restart the light normal then will lighting after 5-10 km running. what weird is why when the car running that CEL will lighting. thats makes me headache. regarding fan actually i forgot to disable thermostat while doing conversion so after engine half hot then the fan is running. for info my speedo meter also kong.

Get the speed sensor replaced. It's good to know your speed anyway right?

so CEL will lighting if speedo meter not functioning? what about fuel rail diameter is it the pressure can cause CEL on?

same thing happened to my LE 20vbt, using ae82gt meter....check light appeared after 2 3 km,
it will appear quicker if I drive at high speed....my mech said it was because of the meter
that is currently used....so far no prob....

while ur engine check light on pls immediately do diagnosis w/o switching off engine. just put a jumper across the E1 & TE1 on the engine diagnosis socket located near ur igniter. if the code is 42 then most properly due to ur meter's speed signal not routed to ur ECU. wat meter u currently used? local meter don hv speed signal...can u rev till 8K rpm? or rev cut at 7600rpm?

yerterday i removed the thermostat then the engine always cool check engine light also not lighted but when i running high speed the check engine light come back lighting. i think maybe due to speedo meter faulty. any comment...

GO TO WIRING SPECIALIST.... u need computer to red the ecu.... then we know what problem.... my car happen once.... only temp sensor longgar... he charge me rm20 for troubleshooting.... go see panjang.... ulu kelang

i think my rpm meter correct, rpm cut at 7600.

it shouldn't cut at 7.6k...should be more... pls check is ur speed signal frm meter route to the ECU...
