I'm driving a SV4 and recently just changed springs to lower my car. Afte about a month, now I can hear the spring flex whenever i go a bit faster on a bump. I have to slow down really badly to avoid hearing it. I was wondeing if the absorber is about to die?? Still using stock abs. :)

wat kind of sound? when i changed from stock springs to eibach on my civic back then, i had also some strange noise as the car went over humps and some road irregularities.

I thot at first it was because the springs were emitting sounds as they compressed and decompressed but in fact the sound came from other parts of the sus system... the culprit was the rubber bushes that were busted. One shop told me they changed the lower arm for me for RM180... got conned big time for this.

went to hokomoto, bought some PU bushes and problem gone... need to check first la if ur prob is similar to what i had

I think it's the bushes too. I thought it's the springs but might be bushings too. Hmmmm......gotta go disgnostic it at the SC.

Some springs will get the sound, like amdfaisal said... like certain tien springs, you can buy the 'sound damperthingy that mounts on the springs'. (didn't bother reading the product name.. it was in japanese anyway)

I'm not saying that it's the cause of the problem, but just saying that when you lower your car.. there's always a tradeoff it noisier ride, since you have to make the springs harder to compensate for the lost travel.

Anyway.. stock absorbers is bad if you're using stiffer springs... they won't last very long..

well somebody taught me a DIY method to dampen the spring noise if u r interested. Simply wrap the upper part of the springs with rubber hose that u normally use to water plants...

that guy said that it would work but never tried.

shiro, i dono bout tein springs but my tein coilovers sure have some noise if the travel is large enuf... like u said... trade off le... noisier ride for a lower ride heheh

haha.. nice DIY idea.. the rubber thingy.. but if you are the auto salon guy.. removing your wheel to show off the suspension would result in... WTF is that?

I'm not a lowered ride, although I do use harder springs and shocks for better cornering.
