The back brakes of my car are drum brakes. Whenever i press the brakes, there are like squeeky sounds coming out from it. I've brought the car for skimming the back brakes but yet the problem still persists. I've thought of changing to a disk brake but i think it's expensive and needs JPJ approval according to the mechanic. The mechanic said that it's rust forming in the drums and don't pose any harms but i still find it irritating because it squeeks really loudy. No changes in terms of stopping the car. The only way where i could take the sound off is to take the brakes for dusting and he blows off all the dust and it's quiet and like after 2 weeks the sound comes back. Anyone other solutions? THanks

mine has the same problem before this on my wira...when my mech check and open the drum...there was a spring loose and kene my drum brake cover...u better check with other mech also...mybe they have different views on that...

yeah i have sent the car to various mechanics..to be exact is about 4-5 mechanics. One of them said it's the drum brakes lining and asked me to changed it and so i did but the same problem occurs after a week...

As i know, changing rear disc brakes no need JPJ approval
my mechanic said that to change from a drum to a disk needs approval..if a disk to another disk is fine i guess...

bro..i don't think anything you do to enhance the safety of the car would need jpj approval..(except roll cages, of course..)

Bro..
Actually JPJ inpection needed for changing engine block, change the transmission (exp: auto to manual or manual to auto).. and if there is anything that have touch the chasis also need inspection...
As this is required by the insurance company...
Never heard that improved brake system need to make inspection..hahahahaha...1st time heard it..

i also heard b4 change rear disc need to go for inspection.....
dunno how true izzit...
mayb can call jpj n ask??

since the lining is ok...the drum cover is the problem izit?
i've done skimming of the brakes...the mechanic also checked the entire drum shit and it still happens..

no other people has a solution for this other than changing the brakes to a disk?
