im using gab ha for my mazda lantis.had some bitter experience with it.first of all it was making clicking noises when turning the steering.then i found the spring seat was broken.went to RS One kepong but damn i got cheated they gave me replacement of hwl brand which was smaller and flimsier and white.it's supposed to be red.i did request for the red ones like original but they said my abs is old model should use the white one.went back and installed it myself and it lasted just for a day.the plastic seat was deformed.called them back,luckily they replaced it with the correct ones without much question.but it costs me unnecessary trips to get it.

so unfortunate for me,the noise persisted.i had to disassemble the shocks again to find the top was actually scraping against the original mounting.this resists the turning force that the spring will twist and bounce,hence the noise. i solve the noise by placing a piece of rubber under the mounting to space it out with the abs.and the problem gone.

i haven't tried any other brand,currently satisfied with gab performance.although i feel slight unbalance between front and rear.then again it might be due to chassis flex,since its an old car,and all the rubber bushings might have gone too.the ride is a bit on bouncy side,thinking of changing to softer spring rate.but some said gab tend to get softer after a while.should i just wait for that moment then?

D2 track Coilovers: Very hard ride (very bumpy on the road), handle goods. I found that the adjustments on the coilover didn't do much to soften the ride

Tein Type RS: Racing only coilovers, has both rebound and damper adjustment total 250+ different settings. on the street i have both rebound and damper set to the softest setting, and the ride is very firm but not as bumpy as the d2 coilovers. They handles perfect! very good!
On the track the car grips very good!

Using.... GAB! Muahaha. Their sports absorbers, cant remember the name. Uhmm its firm over bumps but not round corners, I think that can be blamed due to the soft springs + no anti-roll bars :rolleyes:

Horrible for sharp small bumps e.g. potholes, but very very stable for long sweeping corners, it seems to be able to hold the load there very well

Dear friends,

Using Honda Civic EJ8 with 15inch 195/55 Continental tire. Using a stock EG9 B16a engine & also stock strut bar.

Standard EJ8 Shock & Coil (Tokico) = This stock have been re tuned at a shock specialist in Bukit Pancor Nibong Tebal Penang, new oil & gas & not the same like the original one. Quite bumping when speeding & i never ever try to take a sharp corner :proud:. Used it for about 1year & kaput.

Stock ek9 shock & coil = :stupido2:Look nice as my tire is about 2 finger in front and rear. Good all around but a little bit not confident when taking sharp cornering or touge at Genting Or Gerik. :P. Used it for 6 month & sell it to my friends.

Halfcut Tien Type Flex (EK9) (get it from Sasuke Racing)= Currently used it, about 1 finger at front & rear. Soft/Hard = 15 front & rear. A little bit bumpy, but with my experience my mom & my wife manage to get sleep in my car, Oklah not to bumpy. But with this suspension my car stick like glue at the road. Have try it 2 times when i'm visiting Kelantan & Terengganu using Kulim-Gerik roads with sharp corner. I love the sound of tire, & the vtec engage.

Currently using, Tein type HA for front and rear. Front is with pillow mount & adjustable camber settings. Hi-lo-soft-hard. FYI its an older model of Tein Type Flex. A bit bumpy on the streets, but I use the softer setting of the damper, there is compromise in cornering ability in this setting due to my car has rear yaw problem. But for hatchback cars, this is perfect!

Tested this damper at Psir Gudang, it handles well and what matters most is the 26 clicks setting for soft & hard, very2 handy during trackdays and hard driving. Want to revalve it to make it stiffer though.

if i remembered correctly, front 26 clicks and rear 24 clicks. for street daily my front is 8 clicks and rear 6 clicks. spring rate is 10 infront, 8 at the back. whats yours ?

so, is it the way u guys adjusting the soft/hard a little out of proper way..>??

bro, the setting of the clicks is quite subjective. it works differently according to diff kerb weight of the car, the rim size/weight and the tyres you are using. the only way to find the right setting, you need to find a large parking lot, try test hard corner at 60kmh and observe what happens. if too much understeer or oversteer means too hard on the absorbers. if less understeer/oversteer but too much roll means, to soft on the absorbers.

harder absorber rate = easy lose traction
softer absorber rate = traction but roll

all these need to test n trial to get what you want. anyway for tyre pressure 27-28psi for grip, 29-32psi for power sliding
