Which brand of speakers have good clarity? How about Focal? Not a lot of shops can recommend me suitable speakers for my kind of music. I only listen to mostly rock, metal, alternative, and hip-hop.

Focal is a bit bright to my liking. But which focal are you looking at? Access/Polyglass or the Polykevlars or the Utopia's?

Helix speakers does well with rock music light/heavy as I've found out after installing a friends car. He was running Sony ES gears from HU to amps along with a pair of Helix HXS136 Esprit components and Helix Deep Blue 12 sub.

I've listened to DLS Ref speakers with rock music before and they are not bad too. What you would want to look out for is speakers that are not TOO bass heavy since you're looking for more transient type of bass rather than those deep, low type that many vocals listeners are seeking.

I'm not sure which brand of speakers to buy right now. Just checked out my friends car which is installed with Focal Polyglass speakers. I change my mind about Focal because the tweeter does not sound that clear to me. Went to two different shops just now both dealing in different brands. Shop 1 recommends the Alpine DDR 2-way component, whereas Shop 2 recommends DLS Iridium 6.2 2-way component. Both of them ranges around RM1800-RM2000.

.. err, dls iridium 2-way for rm2k, cheap man.. is there any fake dls around?

focal's tweets are definitely clear, man
your definition of 'clear' may be different

anyway, for rock music, brands to look out for: mtx, jl audio, jbl, lightning audio, rockford fosgate(if u have the moolah, kinda overpriced here), helix etc

The Helix Esprit 136 will run 1/2 of that amount... definately cant find such pricing elsewhere.

I think the MB Quart Q's sounds great with rock/alternative type of music. I will definitely choose the Morel Dotech/Elate or CDT Eurosport Series for R&B.

How to different the fake DLS & Focal ?? Pls advise.. thanks

Visibly they are probably the same, but sonically, they aren't, u'll still have to audit them before knowing. Hence, it's better to get it off reputable installers and don't skimp on internet deals unless that persons is well known to bring in original products at a bargain.
