4g63t tappets making noise

Anyone knows whether the 3rd Generation Tappet Lash Ajduster would fit into 4G93P?? Appreciate the info greatly. Planning to import some 3rd gen tappets.

hi...well i nearly gave up in finding a cheaper or easier solution wiz my tappets problem other then having 2 replace them wiz 1 final effort...im not sure whether its advisable but i did it anyway...i bought a can of ENGINE FLUSH (STP brand) from a hardware shop...cost me RM17 a can...dropped it in my engine..let it run 4 30minutes...then i drained it out...replaced wiz new engine oil which currently using SHELL semi (had 2..no choice s d shop i went 2 do not stock Q8 which i prefer)...result?well...2 my amazement...initially d noise was still there but after a while it sort of slowed down (not too loud but still noticable)...now after about 1k mileage MOST of d time (about 90% of d time) there is NO noise wiz of coz occassionaly (not often tho which is a surprise) comes back but only 4 a while (in my case d noise only last about more or less 30 seconds)...

anyway like i said im not sure about whether it is advisable 2 use engine flush n wat d impact wld b internally but i used it anyway n it works 4 me...well at least about 90% of d time it does....

so anybody?anyone?care 2 explain further d usage of engine flush?
 
try using redline engine oil..15w50..my evo has smooth running engine and no misc sounds after using this engine oil..and this engine oil really works well when in high temperature..its used in all europe, australia and us in the extreme motorsports industries such as super touring,drag and etc..but its price is quite costy..visit www.redlineoils.com for more info..if not u can pm me..
 
thnks dude...i heard about d oil but presonally i havent tried it nor have i heard about its performance/capabilities....but i will try it soon..just 2 c how it is...


any1 else?suggestions?opinions?any comments about engine flushing?STP?d famous "speed metal" engine flushing treatment s advertised in hypertune mag?

Judging by the amount of treatment and expensive we use during each service interval, sometimes i think better off just get it change and last you another 100,000km. Anyone interested in getting 3rd generation tappets?? the price should be around RM700 including shipping from oversea.

thnks dude infinique....dat wld definately b d last n best resort..but d reason of dis post is 2 discuss,suggest,give opinions etc etc on wat 2 do BEFORE we go 2 d next step which is replacement of d items...if there is a way 2 make do WITHOUT changing then i believe its good 2 discuss it here....

i have with me about 9 units of used 3mm tappet if anyone interested; selling at RM40 each, brand new in the market is going for about RM90. But no warranty, PM me if interested.

any1 wiz any sort of info or advice or experience or watever it is about ENGINE FLUSHING...products such s STP ENGINE FLUSH n SPEED METAL ENGINE FLUSH SYSTEM....im sure there r lots of ppl who wld actually wanna know about it...never thought about it BUT wld like 2 know more about it..:)

no more ticking sound...even with cheap oil...
i'm not sure about shipping cost....but as i know it cost you a lot of $$$$....around RM 300++...superb with this 3rd gen lifter...
 
anymore suggestions?? leave out d 3rd gen options 4 d time being...

fazidk, what is wrong with changing the lifters to a more superior one?

every other suggestion put out so far seems to be a compromise and seems to be temporary.

All i can tell you is i use motul 300V 15-50 and i never heard my lashers before
 
Ok guys... I just had my engine replaced... from 4G63 NA to 4G63 Turbo.

First 2 weeks, the tappets were noisy! So I did a engine flush using cheap engine oil (those RM 40 mineral ones), change oil filter and put Castrol RS back. Tappets sound gone... and it has been 2 weeks already (boosting here n there). Forget those RM 50 'engine flush'... they only add more noise later (because engine too clean).

Flushing with oil helps to keep the residue 'fresh'. Sounds expensive but hey... it works.
 
acbc: thnks dude...appreciate ur addvice...btw, i id mine using those rm17 engine flush system from STP...seems 2 b working well..no noise..but i heard from some1 dat it shldnt b one often..how often is often?i mean if using engine flush oil n NOT d normal engine oil...

dolly: cool dude... i was merely looking 4 s much opinions or suggestions or watever it is regaring this matter...s much s changing 2 better lifter aka 3rd gen lifters its unfortunate dat we CANT get it here n have 2 order it overseas...d reason y i insist on suggestions or opinions or advices or watever it is we can do with d original lifters dat we have is bcoz of d cost n time factors...not many, inc myself, have dat much cash 2 throw around at n instant...i believe dat there r others like me dat have 2 find d most probable solutions n if by any chance it does not work s expected only then will opt 4 purchasing...it all comes 2 budget...

Yup... u shouldn't flush too often... say every 5000km service. If engine too clean also not a good sign.

I recommend engine flush (with cheap mineral engine oil) every 20000km (daily drive, mininal boosting). This is what my Galant sifu told me (his car is boosting 1.7 bar and after last overhaul... very minimal wear n tear because he flush with cheap mineral engine oil every 10000km.
 
oh ok..thnks dude...so using mineral oil is more recommended then using d engine flush treatment? i will try dat in my next oil change...how long shld it b done? i mean d STP engine oil says letting it run for about 15 minutes BEFORE draining it out n putting in d new oil...wat about if using mineral?

Steps below:

1. Drain old oil.
2. Pour in new mineral oil - same grade as ur current oil if possible.
3. Run for 30 mins - let it idle for 10 mins n rev high up to 6k for few seconds.
4. Drain dirty oil - will see black gunk.
5. Change oil filter - make sure u get originals, if Mitsu engine, get Mitsu filters.
6. Pour new semi-synth oil - there will be tappet noise for a couple of minutes.

Repeat above steps every 20000km or less depending on how u drive. If always boost around, 10000km is recommended. Can drag longer up to 15000km but again, it depends.
