If you bought a Nissan GT-R when it first rolled off the factory floor, you were addled with the dilemma of having almost 500hp under your right foot’s command and a launch control system to send the car into orbit but using the system would immediately void the warranty.
The ensuing complains had Nissan just drop the launch control system altogether for the 2010 model. However, the revised 2012 model comes equipped with it once again but with some slight changes to avoid grenading transmissions all over again.
The launch control system now allows the driver to use it four times in a row before it’s automatically shut down to protect the transmission. What it does share in common with the previous system is the launching point that is still 4,000rpm but wheel spin has been further minimalised, increasing its effectiveness and making under three second century sprint times possible.
We have posted a video of the 2012 GT-R re-enacting its three second century dash here but now we have a video of the 2012 GT-R drag racing a 2011 model just for comparisons sake.
