1g-gte

Hi SB3!

Read your old post. Makes me sad u sold it...

Sorry for the late reply. At the moment i need the ECU badly. Let me know what you want for that. That will get my 1G-EU working again.

Other problem is the hydraulic tappets. i need a couple, cause it's clattering louder than a diesel. In fact when revved, almost no straight flow muffler can outshine it's noise!! :) Damn SHY!!!

Would you be so kind as to check with Mr.Ngan for me if he has tappets and any Cressida spares?

Thanks buddy.

BTW check out my blog about my journey with this car. Toyota Cressida
Hi buddy, I,m not trying to be funny or anything but the gx series ecu is as tough as steel. Are u really sure the fault lies on the ecu ? Problem starting the vehicle may be caused by many minor faults battery , afm, spark plugs , coil , old petrol , condensor unit, and yes lose wiring , etc but I would put the ecu at the last of the trouble list unless you splash the ecu with water. What did your mech say ? Is it a spot on ecu problem or just a ," replace and see"

hi folks.

I have a Unser which currently running on 7K engine clocking more than 200Ks and I'm thinking of getting rid of that asthmatic and fuel guzzler 7K with its 4speed auto and replaces it with something torquey and has turbo or turbos.

2 engine choices came to my mind, 1J and 1G. Both engine have quite similar specs but varies differently throughout their evolution where 1J is a 2.5L while 1G is a 2L. Both are 6 cylinders and has turbos. That would equates to a torquey engine from down low rpm which I likey the most.

Question, has anyone in Malaysia done a 1J or 1G conversion to their Unser?

I've done a little research and only manage to found out that there's one 1J Unser and 1G Unser in our neighboring country, Indonesia. It could be more than that but, just wondering if there are any in Malaysia?

Which is more bang for bucks? a 1J or 1G? What say you?

of course 1j provides better value for ur money. but don't u think its an overkill to have such a big engine inside the unser? the stock unser looks "melayang2" on highway, if u put 1j, ur gonna have to revise the rear differential (torque kills diffs), beef up suspension n brakes etc, n ur unser will end up as a super MPV which is too scary to be driven by ur wife! something more docile like 1G should be better but yeah, spare parts are not as easily sourced as JZ parts...

haha.. yeah, I do think its a little an overkill to have a 1J which is also a heavy engine and that would definitely going to make the stock front suspension work harder than it should.

It has become apparent that I have a wrong car to start a project with. LOL

But it would be an awesome project if it will ever be a reality. 1JZ running with GT30r, mated to 6spd box and diffs. fuhh..

its all about the money..money..money..

Hi Bro,

Thing is the car was working fine till it went in for welding, so i'm suspecting some poor earthing shorted it out.

If you do not mind, i would like to try the ECU and if that really is the case, then i don't mind paying RM200 for it.

I do feel that the asking price for a 1G-GTE is too much considering its an obsolete engine having no spare parts available, but i want the Cressida to be period correct.

Thanks for checking out my blog BTW. If you are free this friday, maybe we can meet up for a Yum Char??
