I believe many countries still have the "Hate Japan for what they did last time" days and events. In Malaysia, you could ocassionally see articles in papers of past war veterans, survivors being intervied and their take on Japanese occupation.

I myself was fed stories by my grandparents on how bad those Japanese are. Head cuttng, tapioca meals, rape stories, mass burial blah blah. No matter how i hate them during that time, nowdays i can't find that feeling anymore.

I am very very sure, our goverments or some parties elsewhere, fear their people would loose the hatred feeling for Japanese. I myself could be a good example. I'll tell u why.

1: I'm buying Jap goods now and then. It can't be avoided.
2: We are so far from the past and time to move on.
3: Everyone like Anime and Jap dramas.
4: So many Jap companies where i live provides work for people here.
5: We have Jap embassy here.
6: So many Jap based shops like Kinokuniya and Jusco.
7: Kids nowdays dig Japanese fashion.
8: Germany was equally bad last time.
9: We were occupied by many countries even more back then.

Yes, we are frequently reminded of how bad Japan were. My biggest fear is not Japan but countries like USA, Russia, North Korea, China and nowdays Pakistan. These countries have bad reputation for having nukes. My fear is trigger happy Presidents, Prime ministers of Generals. I don't want to die for something they don't agree on. Europe fears Germany (if there is Nazi uprising again). And Asia fears Japan through Sony Playstations.

Yes i know what happened last time. But i don't want to champion any cause to hate Japan either. Nowdays i believe we are only fighting aginst ourselves. China/ Taiwan, US/ Iraq, India/ Pakistan, North Korea/ South Korea. And many more small wars i really hate.
