true 4 gauge cable is about that price lo...those selling in jalan pasar abt RM50 one is 8 gauge...
zen is right..and wrong.
Those selling in jalan pasar is 5 or 6 gauge. But definitely not real 4awg.
You can see it from the size and thickness of the lugs used.
The attachment below might help in differentiating the cables. Red one is the real 4awg cable that we used to have, the blue one is the Jalan Pasar stuff.
Anyway, lets do some costing for a DIY project.
Materials:
1] real 4awg cable (such as what we use), if you can find it, costs about RM18/m... a typical setup (take Wira as example), needs about 4m OR MORE. Minimum cost = RM72
2] good quality 4awg tin-plated copper lug (such as what we use), if you can find it, costs about RM1 each in small quantity. A 6-cable kit needs 12 lugs. Minumum cost = RM12
3] Heat shrink, 13mm, about RM3/m. You have to buy at least 1m. Cost = RM3.
4] Solder wire. 60/40 compound, 1.2mm thickness. You need about 4m to solder 12 lugs. But no one sells 4m. So got to get a roll, cost = RM10 (estimated)
Total cost =
RM85
Tools:
5] instead of soldering, you can crimp the lugs. A good crimp tool for 4awg size costs about RM90 - RM120.
6] solder iron, 100W. Price varies from RM15 (made in china) to RM80.
7] etc etc etc that you can imagine..
Everything can be cheaper if you buy in bulk.
