I am new to ICE. Need pro's view what's the best for rear speakers after already have components on door panel.

what component you have now? than use a same brand coaxial, or better use a same model just the mid-bass, or with tweeter also can if you don think of sound upfront.

do u have subs,if u dont i recomend u jbl CS206 series for your rear.

Any rear subs that can go on rear deck? coz most subs need to be in enclosure.

i think dats is not rms

Rear Speaker in ICE.....

a) Multi Media System = Surround Sound
b) Sound Quality = Rear Fill

Surround Sound
usually representative of the monophonic sound extracted from the stereo signal sent to smaller rear or side speakers used in a home theater.

REAR FILL
in autosound, the ambience created by a pair of rear speakers that helps complete the soundstage. A set of high quality components for the front powered by an external amp and a set of coax (Full Range Speaker) mounted on the rear deck powered by the head unit or small amp is a good example of a rear fill application. Rear fill speakers should be faded so that they create a richer ambience, but you should not be able to isolate any sounds coming from them. Component set speaker not adviseable..

Sountage = the sound systems ability to correctly place instruments on an imaginary soundstage; reproduction of the way the music would sound if you were actually watching the musicians play in front of you. The stage should always appear to be in front of you, with a proper "image" of where each musician is playing on the imaginary soundstage.

oldskolboyz,

Wats ur advice? Go with sub woofer or use component too on rear.
Now using gti608 component spkr on door panel and coaxial on rear deck?

I surveyed in the websites, some of them say rear spkr COAXIAL should be low freq, to make the sound deep at the back.
Or I just use another component for rear enough?
4 ur info i am sing jbl px300.4.

if youre planning to get a sub then no need rear speakers. to install free air subs (no need enclosure) u have to search properly as not many are in the market. failing to get these IB subs (infinite baffle), look for subs that require very large enclosures as a substitute.

personally i dont like rear speakers and only reason to get them is if youre car is very long, and if u always carry passengers they cant hear the sound from the front.

Do i still have to amplify the coax or just leave it to head unit to power?

based on your amp & comp set... I think you should use back OEM speaker & connect direct to HU.. my system
If dont have budget... just buy khguan Eclipse 12' SVC sub..

Use your JBL amp to drive the sub... bridge 3/4ch amp to drive it.. ch 1 & 2 drive your front comp... this if you have sub out at HU or external XO...

if your HU dont have sub out than U need external XO... can get it here... www.mycarhifi.com/carhififorum/viewtopic.php?t=1524

Agree with oldskolboyz. Based on my personal experience, it is very difficult to tune to get the 'ummph' with the presence of rear speakers because the sound from the back seems to be always 'kacau' the sounstage. In fact, I see a lot of ICErs play with only front comp and SW and the results are marvelous. Anyway, if u want your back passengers to enjoy the music better than u can opt for rear speakers.

how big is the car till the rear passenger cannot hear the front component sound?

as for me... i will take off the rear fill... had a bad experience with the sound stage using them... not advisable to use unless you have a 5.1 DVD system in your car...

but if your car is really big then install the original ones... hav your HU to power them... when got rear passenger then fader set to centre... when you are alone then fade everything to the front...

cheers...

my opinion for basic sound system..

Main: 1 Unit HU
Front: 6.5" Component Set
Rear: 2 Way Speaker
Sub: 12" subwoofer
Amp: 2 CH for Subwoofer, 4 CH for comp n speaker.
+ electronic crossover...

Guys, can I just put another set of component to replase the subs? So dat I dont have to install subs in my bonnet.
