Hi guys,
Need some info on the waja 1.8. My friend has this car and had some problems with the ECU in the past. He's worried it may occur again and if he has to change the ECU it will cost a bomb. The ECU has been replaced twice by proton already. Any one facing the same problems, or know any solutions?

1. I heard that proton released some with the mitsubishi engin insted of the renault engines? it this true?

2. What ECU does the Waja 1.8 come with? is it the Siemens VDO ECU?

3. Can an programmable ECU be used to replace the Waja 1.8 original ECU?

Thanx in advance guys,

Kodiak,

What kinda problems is ur fren facing, care to elaborate further?

1. there are no 1.8 mitsu sold by proton

2. the ECU comes from Renault

3. u can try but at ur own risk

well, since he got the car, proton has changed the ECU twice under warranty. After tat there wasnt n e more problems. He's worried if the ECU fails again, its gonna b costly.

On the 1st occasian, the car stalled and refused to start. On the second, he could not engage into Drive. Only Revers. Everytime he tried Drive, nothing happened. EON said its a problem with teh ECU and changed it.

n e one have n e ideas y its so...
Thanx in advace

as most french cars, the ecu is in the engine compartment, so...

be very careful when driving through heavy rains and flash floods.
