ECU will sent signal to Oil Control Valve (OCV)...OCV will activate , and rotate 30degree the intake valve...Those 30degree movement using a gearing system which pushed by lubrication.If it's lubricated, sooner or later it will need a service...same goes to human...heeee...if you know what i mean... :PAs mentioned by pcmoddingmy ...100,000 km is the service interval for it...and i believe most of 20V engine have reached that mileage...So it would be best to service it.If you don't intend to service it, it's still ok.But take note of what meg_omen mentioned.For me using custom intake pulley is not an option (for me) ...as I've read some article or heard about it can really recall...if you running high-cam lower then 272...it would be best to run it with VVT pulley...that would be the best setup for daily drive car...It's up to you...<img src="https://zerotohundred.com/forums/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/driver.gif"  class="smilie" loading="lazy" alt=":driver:" title="Driver    :driver:" data-shortname=":driver:" /></blockquote>
