Can boost meters be installed to turbodiesels? If I'm not mistaken, can but just that there's no vacuum reading only right? I've seen so many turbodiesels with boost meter on the internet.

Want to install it on a Nissan Frontier. Seems like no one knows how to install it. Anyone know who knows?

my bro used to have the Mazda Diesel Turbo.. got boost meter also... vacuum reading got ler... but the boost is like 0.4bar max only.

correction... the boost meter would not have any vacuum readings from a turbo-charged diesel engine.

i honestly dont have much idea on this. whatever i've mentioned is what some installer at Eneos told my friend.

err no vacuum hoses ? thts funny

not that there's no vacuum hoses. the installer dude said the reading won't go below 0 for vacuum meter function. only 0 to whatever boost it's running at.

yup...there is no vacuum reading as there is no throttle to close the intake, therefore the intake manifold is always pressurised. Which is why when you install a boost meter the reading is always at '0'.

Get the installer to take boost readings via the intake manifold area, surely there is a hole to plug the hoses to get readings..

happy boosting !

hi paul..u wanna install a boost meter rite...the instalation is as same
as a petrol engine, u either tap the pressure line to the wastegate actuator or
u get the reading from the manifold by taping any pressure line which comes from
the manifold....my 2 cents....hope this helps..

happy boosting...

This is because diesel engine need very high compression to compress the mixture and burn before TDC.
Usually turbo diesel engine has 12.8:1 and above compression ratio.
NA Diesel can get till 20.1:1 compression ratio.

When you used low compression piston on your diesel engine, don't be shock diesel engine boosting to 2.5bar or 37psi. Thailand's modified pickup diesel engine boost more than 3 bar and there is no aftermarket boost meter can reading that high.. hehhehe

yes ... diesel turbo can install BOV becoz here got a member called pioneer411. he is the senior member.. his wagon had install hks sqv and trust wastegate... damn power dude...

how bout boosting to a higher pressure? i am a newbie for deisel engine.. do we hav to change pistons/cams like we do for our petrol counterparts?

i believe it would cost u some money in order to fit in a BOV in a TC Diesal Engine as there isn't any throttle body like the petrol counterpart. At least to me... it may not be practical. :)

i mean gauging the price of fixing a BOV? hehe.. sorrie :p

oic... hehehe.. from what i've heard... be prepared for RM1.5K plus
which includes some cap ayam BOV, pipings and throttlebody.
