turbo lag

lag is like suddenly u step on the gas pedal and then it take a couple of seconds b4 the turbo spools up....

the other wan mentioned is the boost threshold...it is the time of the turbo spools up from 0 - ? what ever bar set....

ur having which wan problem???

1 bar???hmmm ok ler...but issit reaches full boost at 7000rpm??if it is that is lag....and if it takes 10 secs to reach full boost that is lag also....
same like urs???
yes it can reach full boost b4 7k rpm.but the turbo kick in late around 4k rpm

ken..

ur meaning of lag = floor pedal when cruising ? or from standstill ? or if cruising on 5th gear or 3rd gear ?

yes,i mean floor pedal when cruising with 3rd to 5th gear.if standstill cant feel so lag

actually u shud look at response time from the time u floow the pedal...
if ur car is reaching full boost @ 4k rpm, cud be normal...ermm..urs is EVO 6 or 7 ha ? to my understanding...the EVO's do have more lag over the earlier versions due to the size of the larger turbine housing which si 12cm2...EVO-3 only uses a 7cm2...

and furthermore...later EVO versions do not have much 'G' force feel as the divider in the turbine housing smoothens out gas flow from the exhuast and basically u have a very linear and smooth pull when u accelerate... rite ?

evo 4..will try to get more detail.can feel the 'g' but felt like too late compare to other car

4WD la bang... :P and heavy too lar...
can't compare wit civics... :P NA best for drivability...step-n-go...

haha.yah,u r rite.damn heavy and 4wd the feel not the same like fr or ff

have to drive someone evo to know whether my car normal or not  but i test drive another one b4 the response better but boosting 1.3 bar.

he might have other things ...like piggy back or cams or bla bla bla....

did u enlarge ur intercooler pipings ? or they make it further away ?....this might cause the lag too..

no piggy back.no other things.more stock than mine.try to ask my mech and check 1st

thanks for all ur reply, call me when u come to ipoh.belanja u teh tarik :)

hehe...sure man ! ;)

check for air leaks...mitsu stock rubber hoses tend to leak air...
ask ur mech to do a air pressure test...then u wud know where is leaking if any.. ;)

Evo's 12cm2 will require more pressure from exhaust to spin the turbine thus making acceleration feel a lil bit slow b4 full boost.....OOoOOo...new info...gud gud....

makin pandai aku....kekekekke...

TQ SDF taiko!

i remember watching Discovery Channel on the best Road rally car of all...
they say, eventhough EVo is a powerful car when the turbo kicks in..it falls on fourth place cos the turbo lag is obvious......Imprezza got 3rd place cos it has the ability of having individual traction control for each wheel, Lancia Stratos second for its almost perfect design and Audi Quatrro got the first place for having the first 4WD and Turbo System to enter WRC and it won the first race and a few others after that...

Anyone knows how to DIY air pressure test??
