Super-Charge

hi gerard,

sum question that i wanna ask :)

1) can a na car bear the supercharger ?

2) for proton engine famous for oil leaking from the engine, would the supercharger decrease the life span of the engine ?

3) how long u have been use on ur sgti and is there any other piggy back that needed ?

and sum noobies question

supercharger need bov n those sort of thing? will it cost lots of trouble ? juz like other ppl says that turbocharging ur engine will destroy ur engine .

thx man

Raikkonen,

Yup, your car is not less powerful, just that your not feeling the smoothness of it ...I'm sure you will notice your ride feels more heavier, less responsive and draggy...This is solely because the air is hot and it's lighter (not dense)....
During rain or early morning drives, you will notice the opposite, faster, lighter throttle response and willing to 'go'...Right...

I'm testing out a complicated system with regards to intercooling minus an intercooler and it's almost ready too (1 year of R & D) since installed and still gathering info and the pro's & con's with this system.....I cannot reveal it yet cos it's still in test period and not approved by us just yet but I can say this much, it is able to bring inlet temprature down to as low as 14degrees....Imagine that, even cooler then your home air condition unit...Facts and details shall be reveal soon to you guys sometime in March or April.....when it's really ready, tested and proven..... ...Keep a look out ya.

Oh! it's not NOS system, if you are wondering...

Is it siemens or mmc... ....K & N is a very good filter. You have invested well in this filter..Golden rule...A good filter is bad with air flow, a bad filter is better with air flow.... ...K & N is good in both or the manage to balance both filtering & good air flow... :D

2" piping will be sufficient for now, should you install our stage 1 supercharger kit with 2" piping, you may encounter exhaust choking at higher RPM's (4500 onwards).....I'm using 2.5", but they are louder than normal too, so do keep note...As I always tells my customers, stay that way (2") understand the kit while using this piping and once bored, change to 2.5" you will notice gains then you have minor stages of upgrading with minimal investment to feel new gains...Cost effective too..One step at a time... :D....

Where are you located.?..

Regards
gerard
cool... probably will make an appointment with u later to check out ur ride ;)

mine is MMC, yr 2000 model. btw, how much is the sc if i install minus the exhaust system, ie using my existing 1 instead.

ky fei,

Turbo chargers do not destroy your engines, it is usually mankind that destroy's them by not taking care of the engine and most importantly, truly understand the concept of force induction....No doubt the maintenance is very much higher compared to NA but what it can give you is something NA could not do....

If you could spare some time, I've posted another post under force induction which reads GTI SC Kit review and you would get a much clearer picture......The GTI has been running 4 years now, been to phuket last year with GTI club and it performed without any problems at all, fuel was good, good torque & HP and minimal gearshifts....Took us 2 years or R & D, test drives and fuel mapping, very challenging process.

The models under development carried out (1.3, 1.5,.16) by us has taken loads of time to develope, not the custom make to order, install test drive, feels good then it's ready for show, type of concept...We take our development work very seriously, every part fabricated is stress tested over a period of time running on the road while mapping is done and it will not move into production till it has proven itself over time, hence the long time involved...

Low profile is the key word here, we do not want hassles from JPJ during road blocks, even if pop open the bonet, it takes a trained eye to spot the charger, it has no intercooler, no bov, no need metal gasket, standard gearbox and no tell tale signs that your ride is a force induction type....

Problems related to sc, change belt every year, and if belt snaps or worst scenario, supercharger jams, you ride it normal (NA) without boost, no damage to engine at all, get these parts change and you get the boost back..How's that for maintenance.......Service your car like you normally do, normal oil will do too....
Supercharger have their special oil and reservoir for lubrication, unlike turbo which uses the engine oil....

You prob need exhaust system change, airfilter to achieve the maximum results...

Cheers
gerard

 hahaa...test drive...set boost at 0.5 den boost at 1.0 gimme c diff hahaa :P

Great to know that you are a person who take things one step at a time...I do agree that when it comes to upgrading power in your ride, you have to do one stage at a time so that, you could feel your investment as it grow (HP)...

The stage 1 GTI kit is at 0.7bar and stage 2 kit is at 0.9bar and stage 3 kit (untested yet) is targetted at 1.7 or 1.5 bar. However, the final stage will involve lot's of work and testing, we sort of have the bench mark from our other test car (VR4) and it's 95% completed after 4 years of R & D with 2 different cars and we will just transfer this knowhow from the VR4 to the GTI 1.8 and see what happens and if it is successful,...will be hell of a great daily driver...Just have wait and see....Guys, wish me luck... ;)

Cheers
Gerard
Hmm how much will stage3 cost? :P Hehe Im forever concerned with $$$ one...
1.5-1.7 bars, sounds like it will EAT turbos. :)

This 3rd stage project will commence some time mid till end of this year and should it be successful it will be a fast 1.8....Just hopes it works, lot's of development work and testing, oh, mapping again...Hate doing that part.. ;)

Regards & cheers

Speedking
Mivec 1.6, unfortunately no plans as there isn't a demand for these models.
Sorry, custom mods, maybe but will be costly and will take time.

Cheers

ky_fei,

Belt change is around RM120.00 (every year), supercharger oil change at around RM300 (2 years once). then the rest of the service you do is the normal one you carried out every 5k or 3 months..Very low maintanence force induction method.. :D

Cheers and have fun

keongG

These kit (1.3, 1.5, 1.6 proton with mitsu ecu) ready by April 05 latest...It's all in final stage of testing, fine tuning and stress test...Soon, my friend....soon :D
