this may be a stupid ques...
but just curious....

similar power engine, either horses a bit more or torque a bit more.... ~ 200ps+/- 250Nm +/-
1. BMW - N52B25 2.5L NA 218PS/250Nm
2. VW Golf GTI 2.0L Turbo 210PS/280Nm
3. Benz CGI 1.8L Turbo 184/270Nm (din put the 204PS bcos the 310Nm a bit too high compare to the range)
4. Civic Type R FD 2.0L NA 225PS/215Nm

if put in the same car....
i.e. weight, drivetrain, etc all same....
will it have any different in terms of acceleration performance and top speed?
will the torque curve affect much....?

understand that turbo has a much broader torque band compare to NA.....
and larger displacement engine also possess a wider torque range than high revving engine....

for me I like a car wif torque curve that arrive early and have a broad curve... so in this group I choose the golf GTI...

but... may I add, minus the fact that our diesel is not clean enuff... I'd rather have those turbo diesel saloon that many europeans enjoy hehe

i predict the golf gti's 2.0T will give the best acceleration since its torque is available from low rpm while the type R's high-revving 2.0NA will have the best top speed (without speed limiter). in terms of engine refinement/smoothness, i think no engine here can beat the BMW's silky smooth 6-cylinder 2.5L. :driver:

My vote goes to Golf GTi engine...

and yes, turbo diesel engine is really fun to drive, especially city driving... its frugal consumption and the torque is superb, really well worth it every single penny...
unfortunately, our diesel in Malaysia contain lot of sulphur, thus it's not compatible/friendly with newer turbo diesel engine...

u also gotta see which engine suits that one specific drivetrain best...different engine needs different ratios
