not necessarily as it is clearly stated in JPJ's "Garis Panduan Mengenai Pengubahsuaian KenderaaN" on what is NOT ALLOWED hence deemed ILLEGAL.
They are ::
1. Flashing lights (other than turn signals or hazard lights)
2. Any blue, purple or green coloured lights
3. Melodic horns or mult-tone horns
4. Spotlights on the rear of vehicle
5. Window tints that exceed 70% tint of visible light (except for top of windows not more than 20% width)
However, in the section where it says JPJ APPROVAL is required, there is a line that says::
1. Where any steel parts are replaced by fiberglass parts
From that, we can conclude that according to strict sense of the law, putting on a Mirage/Mivec bonnet hood is not illegal and does not require any JPJ approval.
But the Promote hood, where they chop your ori hood and mod it with fiberglass parts, you will need to obtain JPJ approval upon inspection to be perfectly in line with our legal system.
