Have a myvi with BOT using YRVT manifold, turbo, intercooler etc.. it comes with this bosch pbv, the vacuum hose runs back to the intake manifold but somehow when boosting even as low as 0.1bar i hear a whoooshh sound... any idea on how to make it silent? looking at a stealth BOT car.

Thanks :smokin:

does your boost hold up when you hear the "whoosshh" sound ? or does it drop off ?
does the "whooshh" sound come on when you're accelerating ? or ?
Where did you take the PBV from ? Did you check if the springs were ok ?

The "whooshh" sound could come from your turbo as well...

as long as my turbo spools and i take my foot off the throttle there's a whoosshh sound... even thou the boost is negative 0.7 i will hear a soft whooosh sound... gets louder the more i boost.. at 0.1bar its loud enough to be heard from outside...

the pbv came from the yrv turbo set that i bought.. the previous owner upgraded and i took the old parts... everything is working fine thou.. no boost leak nothing.. the boost builds up very fast...
the whooshhh sound is only everytime the turbo spools and i take my foot off the throttle.

that's normal.

you must remember the stock PBV is very soft and isn't build to hold more thanx "X" amount of boost... most prob 0.5 or .07bar max... depending on the build.

all ok mate.. happy boosting !

great.. so having a soft whoosh sound even at negative boost is normal as well right ? :)
now my question is.. how do i get rid of it? i'm looking at a stealth turbo car and not one that "blows" all over town when i drive.

plumb the outlet back towards your air intake hose aka after air filter but before compressor housing inlet. to recirculate the air..

will changing to another pbv help ? thinking of sound proofing my bonnet. my pbv now goes back to the intake manifold. my mech actually connected the pbv back to my turbo causing fluttering but after he changed it to the intake manifold it came out with whoosh instead.. :D

well the proper function of PBV is to re-circulate the excess air back into the turbo intake aka compressor housing inlet.

This is ONLY for street cars with stock boost and stock turbos...

ic.. so its either a fluttering sound or a whoosh sound right? i believe my mech connected it to the intake in the first place thus making a fluttering sound when i release throttle.

simple read up by Turbosmart on BOV's..

hmm...still doesnt say how a pbv will produce a bov sound...
