Number plate question

Hi guys ! dont know if this is the right place to ask,

but is there any way to transfer a number plate from an old car to another old car?

Am thinking of selling my seg, but i wanna maintain the number plate onto my civic.

I heard last time you could get a motorcycle (new), to use that as a "middleman".

does anyone know if that technique still applies, or any other way?

Can be done, probably need 4 new unregistered bikes to do the "INTERCHANGES"

Quite a hassle, each interchange cost RM1,000 including service charges and lending bikes registrations & depreciation.

Shop selling new bikes can do it.

Also got to go for vehicle inspection at Puspakom.

Not worth the while unless that is a VERY VERY SPECIAL number such as....

Single digit numbers, numbers which can make words, straight numbers, twin numbers, triple numbers etc.
Example of numbers which can make words are:-

PE 50 = PESO,
K 155 = KISS
PDL 15 = POLIS
PAR 15 = PARIS
PEP 51 = PEPSI
PEN 15 = CENSORED
PET 1415 = PETI AIS
JAG 4 = JAGA
WAR 15 = WARIS
WAN 6 = WANG
MAN 15 = MANIS
PAN 6 = PANG
NAS 1 = NASI
JUT 4 = JUTA and many many more.....

why not just direct swap the numbers to your Civic?

As the thread starter mentioned, it is from an old car to another old car. So assume it is to an used Civic :)

Exactly that you can direct swap between them. It's simple.

as u stated before, buy new bike, interchange the number, yr SEG will get a new plate.
then keep the old number for yr new car soon. never heard ppl interchange from old car to another old car.

Transfer Procedure for Vehicle Registration Number

BACKGROUND

Transfer of vehicle registration number is the process of transferring the registration number of registered motor vehicles (the original) to the motor vehicle is not registered (new), and assign a new registration number to the vehicle.

TERMS OF APPLICATION
Applications can be submitted by the registered owner of the vehicle or the representative.
Both the original and the new vehicle is owned by the same owner;
The new vehicle has not been registered yet;
Only the original vehicle that would be required to undergo a number of transfer PUSPAKOM to identify the vehicle.
For new vehicles, checks are NOT needed, except for imported vehicles;
The original vehicle no blacklist from RTD and PDRM;
Date e-Insurance is open for new vehicle registration number after the transfer is processed;
Fee that has been set.

well in ur case...
as far as my knowledge goes...
u cannot do that consignment process...

because it's from a used vehicle to another used vehicle...
if i'm not mistaken u can only do that process only from a used vehicle to a newly registered vehicle...

i'll try to make it a bit clearer...
say i hv an old ke70 with a registration no of JJ88...
so i'm gonna buy a new vios n planning to use that JJ88 plate no...
let's say that the currect registration no is WVWxxx
n let's say if i go register my new vios...i'll get a plate no of WVW4855
but then like i said b4 i'm planning to use my old ke70's JJ88 plate no...
so my vios will b registered with the JJ88 plate no and the WVW4855 plate no will hv to b consigned to another new vehicle (normally ppl will use new motorcycles)

so now my old ke70 will be sold...
the new motorcycle will bear the plate no WVW4855...
n i will hv my vios with the JJ88 no...

oh n btw...
the motorcycle that hv been consigned with the WVW4855 plate no will be sold with a slightly cheaper price...
as it is considered used...

Nope, only can transfer from Old to New Car/Bike. Old to Old vehicle cannot be done.
Using bike is just to keep the number, if old car is being sold before new car arrives. If new car already ready, can swap immediately with old car number.....
