Hi all,

I'm new to the forum and am in need of some sound advice.

Ok, Ive recently acquired a 1st gen rex and it's an old race car fitted with 13bt. unfortunately d car has not been running for the past 2-3 years. not really sure of the specs of the engine but pretty sure it has been put back to stock.

My problem- i want to get this car back into running condition as an EVERYDAY RUNNER so reliability is essential for now... of course price is of concern as well (always is...)!

Biggest concern is the engine cos cosmetically i'll fix it up bit by bit. Is it better to retro fit a four banger (considering mebe something with minimal work) in or rebuild the 13b? All-in-all, which is cheaper and more logical in the long run??

PS. Speed and HP is not really a must anymore for me... for now!

Engine-
Four pot or current rotary?
Which mechanic?

Budget - Dont wana spend any more than 4k on the engine...

Would appreciate any sort of suggestion or advice asap!!!

Thanks in advance!

if your engine currently in it is a 13B, then just go get a 13B half cut, put it in... do a transplant. it will save you alot of money from going to fabricate brakets and mountings to hold ur 4 bangers. not to mention the gearbox fittings.

go 13B... replace it.. rebuild it... if it's not running.

anything running 13B like FC or FD, they are generally not for daily drive due to noise and harsh ride quality....

price, around 5 K i GUESS.... mechanic.. .ask for ah choy....

just clean up the engine bay and lump in a 13bt. you'd be suprised how well they run as daily drivers if you do things thr right way.
