Need Advice for DC5 - Dilemma on exhaust

Dear All,

Currently having a dilemma on either change a muffler or exhaust system for my DC5. I wanted the sound when i accelerate as for the stock, it is very quiet.

Some say change exhaust system will do and will have better performance, but it is rather expensive, and some say change muffler.

Experts out there please advice.... i wanted the sound but i would prefer those which is not TOO noisy.

Toda exhaust system?
Mugen exhaust system?
Greddy EVOII exhaust system?
Trust exhaust system?
Mugen muffler?
5Zigen muffler?
Or anything else??? :hmmmm:

maybe this video clip can help you in term of noise level...if you want loud exhaust you always can opt for border or buddy club.

although im using APEXi N1 system, my preference would be the Kakimoto Regu 06&R or Skunk2 Megapower...

its possible but very hard to have the best of both world.....subcon's border max is quiet during normal driving but when fully vtec"ing"....

Well guys, i am glad that there is response from you all... you guys are gr8!

I had an advice from a friend of mine. I told him that currently i am not going to touch on any performance on my engine, so it is stock standard Type R (which i think it is good enough), i would prefer to mod my exterior. So he advice me to just change a muffler is good enough as i only want the sound, and stock exhaust piping is good enough, since i do not have any mod on my engine. He recommended 5Zigen muffler.

So, any other advice from experts brothers here? Any webby i can view on the "border"? Never heard of it. :hmmmm:

I tot of changing my air intake as well. Any recommendations? Not too expensive please.

TT usually be at sunway, aman suria and putrajaya. lightningfield use apexi exhaust system. he is DC5 president. my advice is to change the exhaust system from the cat. you can find use one if you on tight budget. can ask dcloo. i think maybe he have some cat back exhaust system for DC5.

if youre talking about 5zigen mufflers..u have to be specific. 5zigen produces numerous models such as:

1. Border 304 Speed (most preferred by vtec kings)
2. Fireball (normal sound..not too silent not too loud)
3. ProRacer (there are few series of ProRacer but all of em - yummmmmmyyyyyyyyyy!)

Air intake - you can refer to many DC5 owners as they have been experimenting with lots of trial & error with intake systems and they know whats best for our car. personally im using Trust Airinx filter kit and its good for a stock K20A engine.

TT will always be held in Sunway on weekends (but these boys they just love to go sunway evryday). Occasionally in KL/Bukit Jalil/Aman Suria..

Hi there bro ... being the lowest decibel members of DC5 ... use Mugen Twin Loop ... though its not a straight flow ... it holds good torque in comparison :) ... almost stock on lower RPM and yet screams during VTEC engagement ... my chosen one!!!

be prepared to get jerked off by Jerry and Jonet for the silence :P ...

Border from 5Zigen... okay.. now i know... seems like Border is really loud eh. Mugen Twin Loop muffler is not bad though... is it possible if i don't change the exhaust but just the muffler?

So, now... anywhere i can go shopping to find stuff i want? Besides Sunway which is always expensive...

bro, replica shud cost a few hundred bucks only but it is only the muffler ... original comes with the whole piping + mid box ... new shud cost like 2K -3K and used item shud be in the region of 800-1300 bucks ...

If you want quite and power ... i would strongly recommend this ... almost as stock ... even my wife didn't notice the sound... :P (when cruising with my wife ... no VTEC for me)

early sure say dowan modify and want the car to be stock, but once u changed ur muffler/exhaust system, then u say air intake, i dont think u will stop after that lol..i speaking base on my own experience..hehehe

i'm using 5zigen border speed 304 and i'm loving the sound so much, it's loud but nice sound when vtec. if u want loud but not too loud i think toda should be fine, but dunno how many whp it will make tho
for air intake , i think gruppem is nice (miss my gruppem) coz it makes ur engine bay look awesome and nice vtec sound too..or if u want cheaper just make open pod like lightningfields car.
