Hi there,
Just want to ask about Honda's K20A Engine. It's been fitted into Accord , Stream , Civic , CR-V , Integra and some i might left out. But why there are different HP figures ? What did Honda did to other engines where Integra have a top of 180Hp and 2xxHP versions ,CR-V and Stream just have 156Hp and CIVIC only have a mere 150HP ?!

Same engine but have different figures, why and how ?! Where's the difference in the engine or some other factors ?

Just say that I'm driving a CR-V and i want to boost it up to Integra's figures, what can it be done ?! It's the same engine after all, is it ?

Thanks to all
CK Siow

influenced by the weight of the vehicle perhaps?
its rated on the engine...not on wheel... ;)

maybe it uses different ecu...
hmm internal sure got difference, e.g cam...

how flexible a k20a can be ;)

oops.. my mistake

the diff is the engine

diff compression...diff piston...diff cams...diff ecu...diff cranks...diff conrod...diff head (maybe they just look the same)

diff inlet manifold...diff ext manifold

so which means if i'm able to find all those same parts and throw them in. A slow CR-V can also be a monster ?!

hahahha
actually K20A got few version also one...
the one in the civic is version c or sumthin... the lousiest if i've not HEAR wrongly... lol
today saw a type R dyno 230 on engine... crazy...

damn right! It's k20a3. The most retarded version of K20

type r and normal k series engine is totally diff if you dismantle the engine you will undertsnad why totally diff internals

those k20a in stream or civic is not a race engine...is a engine that is more powerful than normal engine

If you understand Japanese, can check out Best Motoring. They have a cd on the different Type R engines.

Their difference is more like the type of difference between B16A and B16B and the difference between B18C and B18C5.

The same basic engine design, but different internals (like cams, pistons and things like that). Different compression is definitely there. ECU is definitely different, so and so for different amount of fuel mixture and stuff like that. Type R ones goes for perfomance, while the ones like Accords goes for economy. You can see the difference in the redline in the engines, for example you can see the redline on Accords is about 6000rpm or 7000rpm, while Type R ones go to 8000rpm (of course it goes beyond that, I'm just taking this as an example on the difference).

The K20A have some types, that is K20A (Type R), K20A2 (USDM Civics and RSXes are powered by these), and the last, K20A3 (even weaker K20A). The rest I'm not sure about it, so correct me here.

So, the conclusion is...you can probably make something like the CR-V into a monster lol...it boils down to the internals.

want to add something

B16B is actually almost near to B18C, because the block height is the same

B16A has shorter block than B16B, but the bore size is the same

and B18C5 is not B18C Type-R B)

CRV bukan b20 ar??
sei loh..
*ignorance is bliss
 maybe he's talkin the new CRV's... :P
hehehe...

IMHO the K20A3 isn't the weakest or lousiest, its just designed and tune to maxmize fuel economy thats why its got the LEV tag, I don't recall Type-R models mentioning anything about LEV but I could be wrong :(
