I came across this chop shop tauke said if you wanna buy a half cut, look it for from a japan cut. Because he said JDM car don't have a speed cut.

Then I refer to my mechanics, he said that JDM that has a speed cut, while the exported version (from Japan) don't. :hmmmm:

Now can anyone tell me which is correct? With some explanation.

All cars should have their speed limited if Im not mistaken. Just depending on which country and the rules and regulation.

all Japanese cars with ECU have a standard 180kmh speedcut. Even sport cars like RX7, Skyline, etc etc also no exception... all limited to 180kmh...

on the other hand.. European cars have either no limits or limited to higher speeds like 255kmh etc.

Japan export models i'm not sure..

in europe JDM dont have any speed limit :)
http://media.putfile.com/xxx-42 my 1.6 sohc on highway in Poland
My max is 210 but its cut on 6900RPM
All cars dont have limit sometelimes really fast cars have limit on 250km/h(ferrari lamborgini sometimes BMW M5 or mercedes AMG).
For exemple 3000gt Vr4 on the same higway 275km/h (friend from polish forum)
all JDM cars are free from speed cut in europe, but we have speeding cameras everywhere :(

the word JDM... Japan Domestic Model.... isnt that supposed to be cars in Japan only?? i'm confused...:hmmmm:

JDM in poland its reserved for Japan cars : nissan mitsubishi honda....
We have even club JDM(most of people have Honda ,mitsubishi)

Most cars from Japan have highRPM engine's thats the sport spirit from small car...
Sport WV like S6 have cut on 5.5Krpm.... My engine on this rpm its beast....

i think its not mean cars only for Japan, its mean cars from japan :D

as far as I know JDM has speed cut. Taking into consideration that we are talking about true Japan Domestic Model.

As to my knowledge there 2 kinds of speed cuts used~
one is on the RPM where it is capped to a certain limit....most modern cars have this so we wont destroy the engine.
second is speed cut based on speed...this is evident on continental cars.
all modern cars have the rpm cut but not all employ the speed limit cut.

Every car in this times has RPM cut (whitout it we can blow engine up)
In few countriest cars must have speed limit (in most its 250) like i see in japan its 180. The same cars in europe dosent have it.
My car is from 1994 and its made in japan. Its fullblood Japan- was made for european market and speed is only limited by gear box - engine ands and thats all i can go.
Most of JDM cars from 90s are made in japan, now we can buy mitsubishi made in other part of the wolrd and not so MMC like we think (in MSS they instal Renault diesel engine and gearbox from volvo.....)

On youre market from 1992-1995 CA4A was called Mirage for europe the same car was COLT diference is my has stering wheel on left side youre on right.....
In europe we have: ca1a(1.3sohc12V),ca4a(1.6sohc) cc4a(1.6sochc 4x4),ca5a(1.8dohc GTi)
and thats all ,cyborg for example was made only for JAPAN and maybe you call this car true JDM:D
(there was few more i think.... reading posts i found 1.5mivec, (4g91) and 1.6dohc(4g92){only one its in poland my friend bought engine from japan and its instaled in cc4a}
( its about years 92-96)
