hello.. just wanna know, isit a problem if the engine block sound like 'ktik-ktik' (as it was very hot) after a long jurney?? fyi, i drove astina bpt with std i/c and no air scoop or what so ever..

it's okay...
just the internals cooling down...
Cut a hole in your bonnet if you want to help the hot air escape :p

ok...and let say if we put air scoop, is there any problem if water enter the engine bay? which type of scoop thats suit?

Its okay. Our engine are not using plug coil, so its quite reliable. The most important thing that must not be wet is the alternator/dynamo. But i think astina is not a nice car to put air scoop. Unless, if u want to go for FC looks, get a FC air scoop la.

hahaha..great idea..but the first color happen to be milk white..jadi cam keisuke la plak..

phr3ak,
do u use astina? which type of ventilation system u use aa?

ahmadrico,
yeap astina. No more standard intercooler. Now using front mount with stainless piping and cold air intake... i feel our body with the standard B8 i/c can cause lag coz our body has no proper air ventilation system.. not like Interplays... whoa!

yesterday nite got 1 B8 almost tapau SR20 at Nilai 3 sprint test!! Interplay tuned by amoil (i think) with NOS.. 327bhp... luckily i got the chance to meet the owner last nite... damn sweet!!

What a hot engine bay needs is air vents, not an air scoop...
Would be great to have both, but that all depends on the owners taste and want...
Personally, I'm into air vents... A scoop would only be good for a top mount IC setup...

ok.. but if the i/c is in std place, where do i have to put the piping for CAI?

fadzil ( betui ker?) otai mana leh tarik..simpan power..ekkeek...takdela..keta std mana leh tarik..ang lain ler.. oit..jom p kedai bang din..lama la tak jenguk dia..bak sini no call ang..

kalu bunyi injector..rosak ke menda tuh?

haa. tu laa.. aku pun tak tau.. tapi bila sesi selak bonet time gath kat penang aritu pun aku dengar kebanyakan keta bunyi ketek2. so aku rasa normal la kot. tapi serious i/c ko kena kasi vent siket. keta perfom tak best udara panas dok sedut. dia mau udara sejuk. peargh time tu memang best oo.. mau lagi best.. letak i/c ice.. hahaha.. tengah hari pun sedap je tarik. hahah

ok sorry..so Phr3ak..before u shift the i/c to the front, did u make any CAI to ur intake system? i had surveyed the route to make CAI, n seems it will involved cutting n making hole to the chasis? is there any other way to make it without iinvolving those?

herm.. intercooler piping oso need to make a new hole at the chasis... but a bit oni ar... i took out the cold air intake already.

p/s : notice that the i/c piping on the left is going through the chasis...

DONT ever use 1JZ i/c.... i got rite now wit me,
u'll regret it...! might as well go for VR4 or Evo i/c...

U'll pay 200 bucks for 1JZ i/c.... whereas VR4 i/c u can get for only 400 bucks...
which one is nicer???

y did u put out the CAI..isit not good?

y regret if use 1JZ ic?..from what i heard, some says it will make the air u-turn n it will slower the air flow..isit true..

i assume that u have used the 1jz before rite? what is the different when we use vr4/1jz compared to std i/c now?

i sold the CAI to make sum money for the stainless piping...
here goes...
1. 1JZ intercooler supposedly to fit horizontally which is the right system for its engine...but, once it is mounted on other cars, it should be put diagonally... which will disturb the flow of the cold air...

2. It is quite small, more the size of 4E FTE's intercooler...

3. Astina looks nicer wit VR4's intercooler... hehehe... if evo intercooler i think must cut the chasis a bit...
