As you can see Campro engine is built to support AVT from this link.

http://www.proton.com/innovation/rnd/campro.php

There are suppose to be in production in 2008 from this link

http://www.all4engineers.com/index....=34/id=246/sid=97385176442b6761142f0073023909

On why this is the future of engine tech :
http://www.memagazine.org/backissues/may03/features/controlled/controlled.html

IMHO, this explain a lot with what Proton is doing. The engine need to rev hard for enough power, because it designed to be like that. On 2008 Proton will plug in AVT.This will take care of low rev tourqe.

That is why there is no CPS (inferior to VTEC, useless anyway). Proton want to wait for AVT. They want to jump to the forefront of technology. They want to sort out quality issues first (BIG MANUFACTURING ISSUE PROBLEM) , then put first class engine technology to the best quality that they can offer. You don't put best engine on a bad car right. Maybe this also explain why they test Satria anywhere .Its AVT inside.

So what u guys think ?

current campro do not have THE 'campro'
I'll doubt they will use 'AVT' - the price will jump sky rocket & they do not have a reliable mechanic, heck even they cant troubleshoot the real troublesome Campro & now they wanna adopt the AVT ?
I'll doubt everything

As u can see its Lotus developed. Proton pay nothing. As for price, current Gen 2 is 70% more than what the sell at Uk. I think they can maintain the current price.

ermm....sort out the power windows first, please....

it's been quite sometimelah since i last heard about power window issue. even in gen2club. but i'm not sure about other proton.

when they sell engines with a special valve timing or watever..in this case "CAMPRO"..there shud not be HIDDEN power...the power shud be NOT HIDDEN!

Hi guys... I don't think CAMPRO enine has a 'BIG' potential... What do you expect for 2 years RND job... Megavalve engine have more big potential more than CAMPRO technology, proven in Merdeka endurance race... (In My Opinion) Open yours eyes now, compare our national car with others... Let's us see if anybody out there can send CAMPRO engine to enter Merdeka Endurance race... Don't be skeptical to our NAtional Car motto.. 'DARE TO CHANGE' mean dare to spent more money.....

What if this what is really happend when they want to launch Gen-2.

TM says "this car interior suck by manufacturing design and quality. This will give a Lotus designed Campro engine a bad name. So take the CPS out. Launch with next model."

What next ? SRM.

Don't beleive me ? Last night there is a teaser at NTV7. It says "Unleashed Hidden Power. This April"

It comes with a volcano picture ready to explode.

It just for the past 3 years no one seems to test the CAMPRO. How much rev it can take. Never Turboed.

psst...
heard that a 'team' (few respectable figures frm our local motorsport scene) is currently developing a NA Campro with 200ps atw, expecting to participate in MSS soon.

No one notice the ad ?

Because my point is, if u seperate manufacturing issue like Proton always has. with R&D (the Lotus), I think Proton in terms of R&D have a first class capability.

Notice also about the VVA (Versetile vehicle Architcture), Why Lotus showcase an MPV (Lotus APX) ? why niche market (50,000 car a year).

i remember TM says Proton will enter a niche market. Perfert for local scene and new Proton factory at Tg Malim.

Almunium chassis is feasable between 50,000 to 10000 a year only. More than that better to use steel. Look at this article
