Problem is,..... my monthly bills indicate i need to pay for GPS data. Any idea why this happen?
Any setting i can do to avoid payment?

Thanks.

N series has the cracked garmin gps, search around for it. i have a friend using it on an E71 phone. it works fine and he doesnt have to pay for it.

go visit malsing map. somebody will help you. or nobody....

The bill incurred while using GPS is because of the Assisted GPS (A-GPS). A-GPS uses triangulation method, which uses the cellular base stations to pin-point your location, cutting down the time for the satellite to lock-in to your position.

You can disable A-GPS from your phone's GPS menu, not from the Garmin software itself.

handphone GPS normally classified 2 type of GPS
1.A-GPS this one u need to PAY, use GPRS data charge.
2.GPS need to pay also-> maps, unless u had F*** maps  so is free.

Bump: different with phone GPS & stand alone GPS is the channel supported for sat.
if not mistaken phone GPS only 8 channel niah, while stand alone GPS is 20 or 22 channel.

for above mention nuvifone is combined stand alone GPS & phone function.

what naziaf said is correct. you been charged coz under your 'positioning method' option you have checked 'assisted GPS' open. If you only use GPS in outdoor, you just need to check 'Intergreated GPS' open.
