FF Engine Into RWD Car ???

true...money talks...in jpn they've plonked in a VTEC engine inside a trueno...for FF engine to be fitted on an FR...all it needs is to rotate the engine 90 degrees...the hardest part was fitting the rest and the driveshaft...custom job...

yup. fitting the engine is the easy part. making the setup work requires sweat, blood, time and lots n lots of money. gearbox matching, hoses n parts relocation, etc etc.

why not go for a 4AGE RWD? it has proven track record, with tons of spare parts available, and we all know the reliability of toyota. the 16v version from AE86 is not as powerful as u think in stock form(toyota gang pls dont flame me), its perfect for daily driving, with superb fuel consumption. so in case ur doing some upgrades in the future, the engine is a good base. people in east malaysia has brought 4AGE to 400-500horsepowers... in stock form, it's just as tame as any other standard engine... perhaps better and smoother than jimny engine.

@Lambert
IF the engine is from the same family then its easy, especially true with Toyota.

@Satanic
true true, if can plonk in b16 into trueno i think most will already did so, because as i know all honda engine beside the f20c spins the other way around. so your car would have 5 reverse gear and 1 forward gear if you use a honda engine XD.

@khoyos
no one's gonna flame you. the engine memang underpower one hahahaha, well, at least compare to honda's vtec, but the engine really do have alot of potential.

Well I already do own a V6tt so I dont think I need another turbo...:X-:
My point is just to get the car moving with engine which is OK interms of durability and fuel consumption. I dont want to waste so much money on this project. As long the car moving and I can go 120kmh-140kmh at the highway... Im happy already. There is no value to the classic car if its heavily mod... like one Volvo122 classic but with sport rims, bucket seat and all sorts of meter at the dash board... definitely I wont buy the car.If I want much better preformance then my v6tt ..... I think I should convert my Toyota Corona to RB20 instead but no point if the car just sit at the car porch. Even my v6tt is hardly move.

Morris minor is a classic car... drive too fast... nobody will have the chance to see what car it is but if you drive slow... everybody will look at you...:shades_smile:
I should wear my father 70's cloth..hahahahaha

For JPJ I think if your car is not highly mod or look like those Ultraman or Gaban car and sound like a truck... then its OK... as long the car look stock... they didn't even bother to check. I've been stop and ask about my engine (v6tt) papers and I give all sort of reason and at last they summon me for my oversize exhaust RM300. Its a 2.0 to 2.0 engine conversion so they didn't bother much.

may i ask how heavy is the morris minor? as far as i've tried, 70hp/ton is enough to cruise at 120km/h++ but FC is another matter since the shape of the car doesn't look like its going to have any low coeffecient drag

I think its the same weight as those daihatsu charade.... it looks big but light otherwise how the original 1.0cc engine can pull the car. The car still at the workshop since the mechanic still cant find a good Suzuki engine yet. There are good one at chop shop but too pricy coz its not a half cut but a whole car !

My mechanic call me and ask me if I want to use daihatsu L500 N/A on the car coz he cannot find any Suzuki Jimny halfcut which in good condition. I ask Turbo but he said the engine bay will be extreamly tight ( Morris Minor engine bay is small ) n he has to move the intercooler from top to front which may coz some other problem.

I'm not really sure how the performance of 700cc engine fitted into 1.0L car. He also have to fit rwd gear box which is from Jeep or Datsun.... goodby LSD gearbox. How he going to do that .... I dont know... never come to my knowledge a Daihatsu MIRA L500 with rwd gearbox. I also ask him to upgrade the dashboard meter which another problem.... the dashboard is made from metal... : )... not like modern car... its like VWagen dashboard. The original only have speed meter and fuel meter... so how about water temp, rpm , battery meter and warning signal ?

I just ask him do what ever he can do but not a single cut on the engine bay and dashboard.... he ask for RM5k for the engine and modification. Hard for me to say NO since many workshop rejected when I say Morris Minor. I will inform the end result when all are done. I hope he know what he's doing otherwise all my money go to drain.

My car look something like this

classic man!.......
but thought u say u dnwant turbo anymore cos already got turbo perdana already....
how come; thought u said u found the suzuki engine already....
but anyway; 5K is quite good price ler...

nice car maan...truely classic :) maybe you might wanna consider the older volvo engines like the one they have for their 1.6 or izzit 1.3 range or something? i cant remember the model tho, the volvo 120 or something? it looks similar to this car and the engine is pretty small, so im not pretty sure if that engine could fit in, but yea, its a pretty rare thing to find tho =S

the 700cc engine could move the car, but is the torque strong enough to push it and yet mantain a good FC? unless that 700cc engine is something like a diesel engine where max torque comes in real early i suppose the car's FC would definately go up if you are using a smaller cc engine... =)

my two cent la i think, since im not really techie bout all this =S

older volvos (122, P1800, 144) are equipped with either 1.8L or 2.0L( late model 144 only) engine except earlier batch of 122 with B16 (1.6L) engine.

if you want to source morris minor engine parts or send the original engine for repairs/overhaul, I can pass u my mechanic hp no. He repairs all sorts of old conti cars i.e. volvo, peugeot, fiat, alfa, mini, morris,VW, etc.

if u want to try to find morris parts by urself, try Kamachee junkyard.
