Hi guys,

My started motor is giving some noises during cold start after the engine has started. It has a sound like a loose alternator belt for less than 1 sec. Anyway, I was told that it is not a problem and probably just need regreasing.

Am gonna attempt to DIY the regreasing. But just in case my endevor fails, I would probably need to get a new starter . Does anyone of you know the part number of this ? Or knows where I could get one?

Guess all RB engines uses the same type...just a guess. Zephorous would be of help here...kekeke

Got it all sorted. Yanked out the starter. Only 2 bolts. Totally dissected it. You cannot believe how much carbon deposit is in there. The moment you open it up, all the powdery stuff comes out. There must have been at least 30grams of that shit. Cleaned every element in it and regreased it with hi-temperature grease. Fitted it back on and now it is starting perfectly. Absolutely smooth. Everything done in about 45 mins. From taking in out to fitting it in.

Should anyone need to replace the unit, the part number is 23300 AA300.

Subaru WRX version 4/5 apparently uses the same starter

Grease - RM9 :) My mech has the 2 ton jack. I'm the repairman.

is that the new one or the one that you wash clean? looks new to me

This is just a sample. I don't have the time to wash my hands clean to take photos.. LOL ! Not a hardcore documentor unlike the guy in the following link. A Nissan Maxima owner. Certain DIY instruction may be relevant to Skyline owners.
