Hi there,

I am having this cold start problem. When my car is left "parked" for > 5hrs (approx.), I find it rather difficult to start. I can crank and crank and it just won't start. I can tell the starter's working though. If I leave the key position to the "start" long enough, it'll kick in, CHOKINGLY! I can feel the whole engine vibrating as if it's gasping for air/fuel.

On a different startup attempt, the moment I depressed the accelerator a little (during cold start), the car cranks smoothly, no choking whatsoever.

Also, once the "first" cold start is successful, all subsequent start is a breeze!

These had been looked at:
a. Battery replaced
b. Starter replaced
c. Spark plugs replaced
d. Engine oil level ok
e. Air filter replaced

After enquiring around, here are the summary of the "usual" suspects:
a. Failing alternator - if so, wouldn't I have this problem on every start? (I only have this problem when car left "parked" for a long time)
b. Fuel pump
c. Distributor - same as "a"?
d. Cold start valve - Been searching through the FSM, can't seem to identify the location of it.

Any thoughts?
