Here's the situation

My car powered by B18C GSR (already transplanted when bought). When I check the ECU, it seems that I'm using a B16 ECU which have been inserted with modified chips. This I believe had eliminate all the cut off function. And of course, the wiring is a 'kawin' one...

Recently, I've made some research on the intake manifold for this engine and noticed that this engine had a dual stage type. Meaning it has one function call IABV (which I'm not sure stand for what). When reach certain RPM, a part call 'butterfly' will open to pump in more fuel to gain more power (i guess??)

I believe my ECU couldn't control this IABV function. So I'm planning to get a P72 ECU. The question is, can I just plug in the ECU without doing any wiring remapping (just plug to the socket)?

And can somebody explain what is the worse thing could happen for my situation (using B16 ECU on B18C GSR engine) ??

Please advise.

Thanks in advance...

what u have to do is to confirm what sort of wiring loom that runs your engine. secondly, what sort of harness that connects to the ecu? original or has been "kawin" with a b16a/b? determine that first to make things clear.
if you plan to use the b16a yes fueling and timing maps are different.b16a ecus are originally made to run the b16a (1.6L dohc vtec motor), GSR ecu controls the iabs in the stock gsr intake manifold and made to run 1.8L dohc vtec motors. vtec cross over is also different on both.i believe both rev limits are set at 8200ish. you be fine using the b16a ecu if you dont want to shell out the money for a gsr ecu.but then again, know that your iabs wont be functional if you do.butterflies will stay open. by hook or crook if you can get the p72 ecu.

The most important thing is.. which OBD car are u running now?
