The Unlimited class in Pikes Peak is the craziest class of racing you might ever find, bar funny cars on the drag strip. That however, hasn’t stopped Paul Dallenbach from roughing it out with the big boys with his machine that was still in its infancy last year.

Although packing a whopping 745hp last year, that just isn’t enough to cut it in the big leagues, so Banks Power lent Dallenbach a hand by strapping on tow turbochargers to the mill, nearly doubling the power count to a sizeable 1,307hp.

The video shows Dallenbach performing some initial shakedown tests before the actual practice on the mountain itself. There’s also commentary from Dallenbach in the second video where he explains how his driving style has had to change to cope with the increased power. One of the biggest changes has to be on the stretches that he could attack on full throttle last year. Now he needs to hold back on those same stretches or else he could find himself tipping over Pike’s Peak.

What a beast! Are the whining sound coming from the gearbox? Brutal power on the straights.
