There are those that trailer their cars to competitions and then there are those that drive those cars over 1,000 miles to take part in the competition. Logic dictates that trailering the car there saves money, time and effort but then racerboy logic states clearly, in no unbinding terms, that cars should be driven.

For the Pikes Peak Hill Climb this year, participant Jeff Zwart drove his street-legal Porsche 911 GT2 RS 1,132 miles from the Porsche Motorsports North America base in California to Pikes Peak and then proceeded to take part in the hill climb in the very same car.

Last year Zwart took on the hill in a GT3 cup car and he opted for more power this time around, hence the 620hp GT2 RS, coincidently Porsche’s most powerful production car as well. Although street-legal, the huge increase in power would probably be of better use to Zwart compared to the track-prepped cup car.

This short video from Will Roegge documents Zwart’s journey from the moment he picked the car up to arriving at Pikes Peak to compete. He will be trying to defend and break his time attack record from Rod Millen, who will be driving his son’s Hyunda Genesis Formula Drift car in the rear-wheel drive category.

when you hit 60, holding a world record driving one of the wildest car you ever see and Monsuta named after your last name, what more could you ask for?
now that's what I call peak achievement!
