Hope this help...

Equaliser

a circuit designed for frequency-selective attenuation or boosting of a signal's amplitude, with independent controls for gain, center frequency and bandwidth (including continuously adjustable Q). A quasi-parametric EQ may provide full frequency and gain adjustment, but only two or three Q settings. Sweepable EQs have an adjustable (sweepable) center frequency but operate on a fixed bandwidth.

Crossover (Active)

Equaliser - HU > Equaliser > Speaker
Crossover - HU > Crossover > Amp > Speaker

but both Equalizer and crossover have independent output at the back with low pass filter.....so what is the difference.....

say if my sub is playing vocals...which should i buy.......crossover or equalizer??? coz both also have low pass for the subs

hei superglwl.. actually, can easily get 1 pre-amp with EQ & x-over functions, usually both come hand-in-hand.. the main function of EQ is to 'cut' or 'boost' certain freq.. if 4 band, means it can cut or boost 4 freq range, it depends on what's the preset freq in the hardware that can be EQ-ed.. 3-way active x-over can be used for high pass, low pass & band pass..
to avoid vocals coming out from sub, u can lowpass the sub using x-over, use a steeper slope or lower x-over point or both, it depends.. so, to decide which to get, really up to $$ & praticallity.. if got $$, get a good x-over with EQ functions or get a good HU with built-in EQ & x-over..
bear in mind sometimes bassy vocals can be heard thru the sub too

thanks

thanks for the info..........so its better to get a x-over for my problem then
