Aircon compressor... how much?

Hi,

I have a fren who's Satria 1.3 is giving her problems. The aircon no longer blows cold air. So she went to a workshop to get it fixed. The mech there check the system and found that the aircon compressor sudah konk-out completely. She was quoted RM1K plus for a new replacement.

I'm not very familiar with this part... so I need to know... does it cost this much to replace the compressor? I'm based in Penang.

Anyone can enlighten me on this?
