my frens car been into sr20det , but i didnt hear him got trouble on 2-3-5 . frens from cut chop also didnt mention.if sr20det no problem i presume sr20de also the same(correct me if wrong)

Overheating problem
that day my radiator has a leaking at a bottom plastic part and i change to y10 radiator from japan half thinner than local but made from alumunium. After travel about 50km the temp needle just shot up beyond the red and then this cause my water hose koyak, lucky it on ending part so i still can cut then stretch the hose, i topup a new water with coolant then taking hiway for cruising without traffic, the again when i reach kl i was stuck in traffic then temp needle just shot up again beyond the red line, i just close my eyes and keep up driving because my home is very nearby. When i reach home, i check another hose is koyak, now the water hose from thermostat (under the carbie). A day later, i replace a new hose the drive about 20 min then again the needle almost reach the red line. My question is that overheating effect my water pump/thermostate, how to detect water pump not working?

u sure your 'new' radiator not clogged? shoulda rebuilt your old radiator.......probably the same price as your 'new' radiator.

check flow of 'new' radiator if OK

check thermostat is free aka not jammed. open up at appropriate temperature.

your fans working or not?

replace all hoses there are a total of 4 (TCM told me) but I replaced a total of 3 only. 2 big 1 small behind air intake

BTW I'm using GA16DE fuel injection.

normally when do cold start, fan will start running at hot temp (aircond off), if the fan working that mean termostate also fine, right?
if the termostate fine that mean waterpump also fine ka? please confirm this

i dun dare to say i am right........ eberyone have their own opinion. SR20det on y10 is good at torque(pickup)but due to the car design is a bit high(for me) that makes this car in 100% good handling. one more thing , y10 runs on an axle and the rear cannot adjust camber, in theory have bad handling. due to all car expert in malaysia, i think they all have their own way to overcome this !! me not ZZZzzzzZZZzzzZZZz...... just busy of my new work. less time to online

i dun know how true is it, but i think is the way ppl drive it. actualy u miss out one thing. the weather in US and here is diff. u cant relate it together as popular. American ppl love big horsepower with fully upgrade engine (stage 2,or stage 3). v here usually just up boost the ride. is diff.....

bob, actually i m not too sure bout ur case. but "lot idea is great. y not u try to fill up the radiator(with newspaper under the engine) n check the water tomolo morning. the best is get a pressure tester and check. coz by using this, it can tell u where is the exact place leaking. but now i think leaking is it matter or overheating is matter. pls throw away the thermostat(rubbish) cold start in Malaysia is fine(not that cold also mah.........) ok, let me tell u the worse case u might be dealing is waterpump. the hose i think is ok guah......

very hard to guess, i think u need to get the expert to look for the troubles. without checking ur ride, talking here blah blah blah ...............everyone is guessing oni. me also guessing.

PS:radiator pressure tester really can solve ur problem.

me no more working in pandan. now working in pj. if come to pj give me a call lol. hopefully Plan A works. bout ledang i am not sure who going but i know i am not going.

Bob - About your fan, ketuk abit only jalan, I had the same problem la but temp didnt go high. But I just change the fan from kedai potong RM30, voila! Ok dy plak.
