4AGE 9000RPM

i can't remeber what the lift is, got the spec some where. i think 2.5mm higher than std. something like that.

i was thinking about it, rev is increased only by 1000rpm. logically, it shouldn't have such a great effect since it's only 1k above std cut. should be ok if i don't bouunce it on the limiter all the time. comments? rev cut is actually 9500 but limiting to 9k with my foot so i don't have to bounce it off the limiter all the time
if its 272 degrees, ur lift would probably be too high for std springs. std spring can go up to 0.318 inch , which would be 8.1 mm.

stock ones are 7.56 or 7.1 mm lift. either way 2.5 mm higher lift would cause ur spring to bind, get tangled together.

check out club 4ag website, all u need to know about cams http://www.club4ag.com/faq%20and%20tech_pages/4A-GE%20camshaft_story.htm

there is also a pic there showing shims damaged by high lift cams.

the cams i got supposed to work with std valvetrain no need to upgrade. the latest HKS spec cams. some new design that's supposed to work for both NA and 4AGZE. the only issue i have here is the 9500rpm limit :)

well, correct me if i'm wrong, for NA engines, if you use 272 on both ports, back pressure will be very low which then reduces the suction of air/fuel on the intake. but for turbo engines no problem because you force the air into the combustion chamber. with a 272/264 setup, it creates higher back pressure which helps the suction on the intake.

just my 2 cents
what about using adj cam pulley to create overlap when using cams like 272 for intake/exhaust ??

You using the stock 20v head ? I think they can go 9k rpm OCCASIONALLY ... but in terms of daily usage I think better to upgrade the valve spring. Also with the hks cams how is the valve clearance ? did you check it when fixing the cams ??

Yolk

it's possible. Adian is using both 272 cams. while i decided to keep to 264 on the exhaust side.

i'm using 16V head. and yes i seldom use my car. only for events. this is my "Track Car". i think i'll invest in the valvetrain kit :)

Djan, you reckon which is better for track, 16V or 20V?

djan
for 16v i think you gotta invest in valvetrain kit ... you'll need to convert to inner bucket shims if you wanna see 9k revs all the time B)

did u get that from ur mechanic or hks itself??

Yolk: yup that's the Toda kit i'm gonna get

MK: differences, i'm not sure but i'm using the 16v cause too much modification for 20v for FR configuration, and parts for 20v more expensive

AE92: all info from HKS

Tomei has a new kit for the 16V, 10,000rpm.
