Has anyone have any experience using 2-way radios? Can they work between 2 people in the same building but on different floors, or between 2 people in separate buildings but the buildings are next to each other?

I know there are many factors that affect connection but I want to know how reliable these 2-way radios are. Or are they good only in open fields?

Thanks.

depends which 1 u going for
i have 1 handy Spender brand can be transmitted thru out klang valley.

the one u mention is walkie talkie radius a couple of hundred meters only. some claim a few kilometres but its not true

Much thanks. I thought so too. I'll just ask a security guard on how effective they are within buildings.

those guards are using the line type...so its clearer if u want to depend on frequency it will be very bad unless open space.

Not sure how far the range but my friend use before in Redang. That area mobile phone coverage is bad so they use walkie talkie. Both staying different area so they contact each other with that....

mine can use within klang valley but only can monitor as i need a licence in order for me to communicate with others, 9w2 xxx.

What about those being sold in the market, comes in pairs, right? Means illegal to use without license?

that 1 no need licence its a 2 way radio...used to have it too but kong after 1 year of usage. motorolla summore.

So that is the one bro. csbteh asking about. My wife was also talking about this when we visited a friend's house in Sierramas. Two buildings, yes I call building because two 3 storeys high building next to each other. Total 16 rooms, 4 kitchens, 4 halls, 2 family area hall, servant's quarters and even a waterfall in between the two buildings. My wife mentioned if stay here must need walkie talkie.....:smokin:

yes thats the one, if u go to ACE hardware store, their staffs also using it.

normally bungalows will use intercom....or thats out of trend already?

for radio licenced operators u will usually find 9w2xxx stickers on their car with long antenna's at the rear.
