I used to hear people say Silverstone tires got problem and always got pregnant syndrome. I didn't believe it and finally I got it and wasted the rest of 3 each (fairly new). I felt no point to keep something that will potentially kill my father in law so replaced with 4ea China brand and so far so good.

Now I wanted to buy federal 595 series. I heard people said its side wall always crack. For not being a victim again, I would ask everyone here who use Federal before, is the crack thing for real or rumor only?:confused:

Previously used once and personally experienced the crack of 2 tyres among 4. Friends of mine all experienced the same circumstance some even noticed the crack from left side wall to right and that looks terrible. The life span of the tyres last me 1 track day and a year.

My previous use of silverstone brand tyres had fine line cracking at the sidewall/thread area.

But I have friends using Federal and have good feedback.
Not only local or cheaper brands, there are also bulging from Conti, Pirelli, GY and so on. Looks like depends on luck also.
Bulging/crack sometimes due to hitting pot hole or hitting the side curb which we might not know also....

Well...

SS595 is less durable (long term) but a great tyre to be used for track days and if you want to take corners at tree hugging speed

595 Evo is much better than SS595 and is a great tyre to be used daily and value for money...

Look at the ratings of the tyres and you will understand... SS595 cannot take high loads (people) as I guess it was mainly designed for drifting.... at great $$$$

595Evo is serving me very well...

Why you mention cannot take heavy load? Size to size between different models, the load range is the same unless XL is mentioned. For example 215/45R17, load range is 87 and XL is 91

RSR is your budget is bigger...

SS595 is more suitable for drifting...
Yalor, RSR sure more $$$.....

If you look at the ratings, then you will find tht it is lower vs. the 595Evo. It is not it cnnot take heavy load, but cannot take as heavy load. I feel it is because it was meant more for drifting purposes. :smokin:

I look at the 595Evo and 595Ss specs already. Most of the Evo made with XL load. If you look at the smaller sizes like 195/50R15 & 195/55R15 without XL mentioned the load range is the same at 82. In fact Evo for this size lose out in speed rating with V only where SS have W rating.....

I am using 205/40 17 and 215/45 17s on my cars, so when i compred before i bought, 595Evo was better on the spec sheet..

Before buying tyres, you better check the manufacturer date. Some irresponsible shops keep tyres for more than 5 years and still sell them. Best learn how to read the manufacturer date. As for Federal, I'm using Evo for 1 year. Havent seen any cracks yet.
