trd,

my dad kinda own a Corolla 1.3 GL 1987...
been driving the car since 87.... b'4 he sell it off.....

for me its simple..... i found that the maintenance cost is slightly cheaper as compared to my friends honda..... so the conclusion is that honda is over priced ..... when you go to a spare shop.. mentioned honda jer... abis... moreover... i found that toyota parts can be used by many models... like my GB oil seal.... i've using oil seal as KE20...

cheers...

i m totally agree with Fritz.... As i have said earlier, Toyota is durable and reliable mah.... Not like Honda, the whole car starts to have cit cit sound lah then here koyak there rosak after 5 6 years... No offence ya Honda lovers... although i m a bit Anti Honda coz those Honda always like to bully ppl just bcoz they have a big V(irgin)tec... last night kena cucuk by 1 of the civic ek9 for no reason and then somemore giv me international sign lah... duh.... :(...

1. somewhat toyota has less connection with 'rice', compare to honda or proton
2. toyota old school model came in FR
3. western country's survey shows over the years toyota's reliability is on the top compare to all other jap cars, honda came in second
4. toyota's technical info is more interesting IMHO compare to honda
5. toyotarian in forums is nicer to talk to, almost no insulting/flaming/bashing, all civilized ppl. not that honda forumer are bad or something.. but some minority forumer in ICE forum are real 455h0l3.
6. i grow up sitting in one, and now i'm the driver of the same car i grow up in.

I do not know why i love Toyotas.. Just the name and the engines maybe.. and also cuz Toyota makes plenty of FR.. whereas you see.. Civics, Accords, Preludes.. all FF....only S2000....
Actually i also don't know why i like Toyota.
Toyota also has more FR car selections.

To me its just like, you saw this girl, you like her, but you don't know why u like her.

i have been using toyota ll my life. From 1980 ke70 to Corolla SEg to unser to supra (still have) to altezza.

i find toyota is very reliable (seldom break down), economical, designed for sports and family, veryeasy to drive and very confortable.

Honda is more to style and power. Honda's design is based on being different, cool, attractive to young generations. Honda targets mainly for young adults but TOYOTA targets all range that's why they have so many models compared to honda.

In terms of engine durability, have u seen a racing old honda using old engine and beating a lot of new technology engine?....i haven't, most old honda like the Si models, eg, accords...etc all have to mod into new v-tec engine to be powerful.

When it comes to toyota, the engineers put a lot of passion in designing a very impressive and durable engine everytime they design a new car. until now thw 4age engine is still the most powerful in its class and most durable (damn susah tu pecah).

Even the trademark for drift is a TOYOTA AE86!

toyota have proven to the world that they are the champion in Automobile anywhere in the world making them the No.1 best selling automobile in US, Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, South Africa....etc.

If u want to know more bout TOYOTA MOTOR INDUSTRIES, then wait.... i have to check wif my files.

My answer is the longest one, got award or not?

1) my father drives a toyota corona 1.8 RWD 1980 back in 1980 (wah 1.8 good)
2) my mom also drives a toyota corolla 1.3 GL RWD 1982 back in 1984 (lousy 1.3 don't want, not as stable as 1.8, handling bad)
3) Always wanted a TE72 since child
4) before overhaul the 1.8 back in 1994 heard of the legendary 4AG, which will tapau the 1.8. At that time I find if hard to believe. However I wanted to try, but those mechanic cheated me say got problem, better overhaul. I regret listen to them and never went back.
5) Father bought SEG in 1992, loved it :) quiet engine, 4 power window was best

6) the ultimate kill why I choose a toyota - Initial_D
7) second ultimate of ultimate kill - 20v 11,000 rpm is unique

For me I love toyota because of the following reasons below:-

(1) Drove my aunt's 1st toyota camry 1st gen one and immediately like de power & the smoothness of the car. Quiet too :)

(2) Drove my friend's corolla SEG 1993 model one, wah damn nice dis car n also quiet and completely stock. Nice overall :)

(3) Drove one of my uncle's fren KE30 and said walan eh dis car so old liao but still its performance n stability damn good! wow! Great n nice! :)

(4) My dad bought the SEG 1996 model auto transmission so he told me I can use the car also if i wan to. That time i drove my iswara sedan 1995 blue color legendary one so most of the time i went out i try not to drive my iswara but as day passed by feel my iswara like outdated liao. So sold it off and bought myself a corolla SE 1989 model in year 2001 October. No more owing to bank liao now the car becomes my asset :D

Initially wanted to buy SEG but no budget during that time and only manage to sell my iswara for rm22k only and SEG dat time expensive also. So nevermind toyota still toyota so i bought the SE which is the one i am driving now. My new buddy and also my girlfren. eheheheheehe.. :D

(5) Lastly, same like chin also that time poison a lot by initial-d movie so wanna be like takumi also so its also one reason to buy the corolla but although it is not AE86 but takpe la. Still white color mah.. hahaahahahahaa! :D

Mike

thats not very true... my mechanic (and i) curse my car everytime want to service, coz the oil filter so damn near to the extractors LOL. i have the burn on my forearm to prove it. BUT, at least its not as bad as replacing oil filter on 1.6l/1.8l Wiras. BLAARDY hate them!! (not mitsu/proton prejudice, just hate the work)

we cursed at it again while converting it to blacktop 4AG bcoz the wiring part was so difficult to understand. i of course only worked on all the physical parts of the engine (more dismantling than assembling) except putting it into the engine bay. so the wiring part i was only a 2nd hand witness to the carnage... luckily my mechanic pulled thru and gave me a problem free ride (in terms of electronics)

its not THAT easy. i know. phew~ :p
.

but it was worth it. lucky me.

eh i recently bought absorber for honda...
rear from chop shop is RM90 each with springs.
front from spare parts shop price tag is RM220.
but tauke gave my dad RM110 each. Tokico from japan lagi.
not local... so i still think buying new parts is more worth.

so guys remember keep nego until 50% down... hiak hiak hiak.
for parts... the chop shop overpriced sometimes too...
if not how can they drive good cars, live in big houses by
just selling junks.

There's a special feel when it comes tu tuning a Toyota, specially if it is a 4A-GE 20V. I once dreamed of owning a Honda too - an Integra DA6 - but then at that time it was waaaay too expensive.

I love the underdogs feeling when it comes to tuned Toyota, enuff said.
