Hi Guys & gals,

Am considering between a Mitsubishi Triton or Toyota Hilux (both Auto 2.5)...

Can the current owners, or those who drove one before, kindly share their valuable thoughts and suggestions (pros & cons) please? Besides the ABS, LSD, MP3 (the norm which is found on both cars...yada yada....)

1. In terms of the vehicle experience and after sales service...
2. What color and why? White or Black or Silver?

Let me get the ball rolling folks...

Triton (PRO)
- New design
- More leg room space for back passenger
- Back passenger seats can recline
- Comments after test drive: not that bumpy
- ?

Triton (CON)
- Storage space behind not as big as Hilux
- Not many service centres as compared to Toyota
- ?

Hilux (PRO)
- 100+ over Toyota service centres nationwide
- 24hrs service breakdown nationwide
- More modifications (good for pimped my ride)

Hilux (CON)
- Comments after test drive: a little bit bumpy as compared to Triton
- Back passenger seat cannot recline
- Older design compared to Triton
- ?

Thanks in advance for your valuable insight to assist in my decision making :adore:

ok, i'm driving a manual hilux vigo, just to share my little point of view

Triton (PRO)
- New design
(not really, triton start appeared at other country ard late 2005, same like the hilux; is they bringing late into malaysia)
- More leg room space for back passenger
(i felt triton rear seat is abit lower than hilux's,this make my leg can't rest well as hanging halfway)
- Back passenger seats can recline
(yes, hilux can't)
- Comments after test drive: not that bumpy
(ya)
- ?

Triton (CON)
- Storage space behind not as big as Hilux
(Agree)
- Not many service centres as compared to Toyota
(no comment, cause toyota have alot service center, but need to que up by booking in advance)
- ?

Hilux (PRO)
- 100+ over Toyota service centres nationwide
- 24hrs service breakdown nationwide
- More modifications (good for pimped my ride)
(triton also have alot modification can be done nowadays)

Hilux (CON)
- Comments after test drive: a little bit bumpy as compared to Triton
(this can be solve by taking out a piece of leaf springs n changing the absorber; or add a pair of lower arm frm thailand)
- Back passenger seat cannot recline
(but quite comfort to me and my family)
- Older design compared to Triton
(cause they brought in earlier than mitsu)
- ?

ok, now my time to bullshit here

Mits triton :135hp
T. hilux :102hp(thai version with intercooler 120hp)

Mits triton :with intercooler and auto gearbox cooler
T. hilux :not provided, u add-on urself means warranty void :adore:

my personal point of view:

T.hilux interior better quality than Mitsu triton,
frm the feel u you touch the dashboard, switches, air cond blower...

T.hilux you feel more solid
Mitsu triton's abit light

rear seat i nvr play with the mitsu's recline b4, but by the leg height, i felt T.hilux more comfort for long distance

beside facts i meantioned above, i picked T.hilux for its reliable reputation and good 2nd hand value

and because my family have owned before 2=pajeros(1NA, 1turbo), 1=airtrek turbo

so wanted to try out the legendary T.Hilux... as top gear tried to destroyed it b4... haha~!

am concerned as well about this part...i heard warranty void if the mentioned-below is done:

Hilux (CON)
- Comments after test drive: a little bit bumpy as compared to Triton
(this can be solve by taking out a piece of leaf springs n changing the absorber; or add a pair of lower arm frm thailand)

Power wise, Hilux is no match for Triton...in terms of comfort, Lux has better front seats compare to Triton but both have sucky stock suspension. u will need upgrades to appreciate the trucks. Lux is still high on the hitlist so u have to be very careful where u park ur Lux.

btw, Triton was introduced on Dec 2006, not 2005. for lesser money, the Triton comes with Intercooler n oil cooler.

MT is the most powerful of the lot...even a chipped Triton producing 176hp is unable to match them...bugger...
but they r the most expensive as well...almost 10k differences! but they have good seating position n better suspension. one disadv is the very low stand the MT is having. might hv prob even some light off roading. but this can be offset with lift kit available in the market.
as for warranty, don't hv prob with Mitsubishi even after i chipped, change to bigger tires + rims, all shocks and even the seats. still able to make claims...:)

My choice... MT than a Hilux.

Reason 1: Power! MT is packed with much more power than Hilux. I'd done 160km/h and more power to go....
Reason 2: More comfy compare to Hilux.

.... of course, MT are not without problems ....
my bad experiences....
clip holding turbo hose loose and I lost power almost immediately!
power lost after spending 2 hours in a jam.......

hi all,

I've recently installed new set of different engine into my pV6. previously i;m using tenon 2-way communication alarm. After rewiring my mech told me that he doesn't know how to wire correctly the tenon alarm with the turbo timer. so he asked me to bring the module to accessories shop and put it back. I did search thru forum and understand that some alarm cannot be coupled with turbo timer. It will pening. I think my tenon also might not work with the turbo timer plus I don't know...
